  1. No s*** Sherlock. That’s why its called the asking price. If you were Cleveland you’d start at the top too. And, as we just saw with Berrios, that’s 2 years of exclusive extension negotiation
  2. This is a the first step to a 7 year erection. I like this.
  3. I doubt the Tigers/Correa rumour, nobody legit is even posting the usual updates you would hear after the obligatory "Tigers are reportedly in on Correa" which came out days ago.
  4. It's a nice problem to have that's for sure. I really do wonder what Cleveland's asking price is for Ramirez. At this point it has to start with Moreno without a doubt. Maybe Moreno, Gurriel + something?
  5. Maybe but an avg of 14M per in the 1st 2 years is a pretty good bargain for a nearly 4 WAR SP. If anything, Eduardo left some money on the table here in order to have that opt-out clause. Hell, Ray was a 4 WAR pitcher last year, and I guarantee he's not signing for 14 Million per season.
  6. Just saying I don't expect him to break camp as the starting 3rd baseman or the starting catcher. As a catcher he would still need quite a few reps at AAA and as a 3B he has what... a few innings out there? Love the expectations and the hype but the kid still has to get some upper level minors experience at both positions before you throw him in a pennant chasing season.
  7. Kinda sets the expectations for Matz as well. If Eduardo is getting 14-16m per season over 5 (assuming no opt-out), Matz is probably looking at 12-ish per season. Maybe not so long though given he's a 2 years older.
  8. damn. that's a nice payday for Eduardo.
  9. I say late June or early July, depending on potential CBA changes.
  10. Shite, replied to the wrong guy lol
  11. That’s the gamble. Trading for him the teams will want to see if he can regain his prior injury form, or at least get closer to that. Heck, he was still a 3+ fWAR player last year thanks to his Defense, HR and walks. With even a minor bounce back in K rate to something like 27% he probably a 4 WAR player assuming his D doesn’t slide.
  12. You’re missing the point. It’s not the commercial break times that slow the game down and that’s when the majority of warmup pitches are thrown between half innings. It’s everything else
  13. Forgive me if it seems like I’m throwing cold water on all your Moreno induced erections, but let’s keep in mind he has all of 145 PA at AA, and 10 at AAA. His arrival is likely not imminent, barring some drastic change with the CBA regarding players initial years of control. Yes, I think we will see Moreno next season, but I highly doubt it will be early in the season.
  14. Yeah the pitch clock, batters box time outs and pitchers stepping off kinda all go hand in hand with speeding up games. Might take gradual changes over time but eventually all those things will need limits. If a batter can call time over and over, and a pitcher can step off over and over, or throw to a base over and over with someone on…those things all need to be addressed along with the pitch clock.
  15. Ah yes, forgot about Universal DH, gimme that too. If for no other reason than to watch every single baseball fan over the age of 50 have their head explode instantly.
  16. The only things I really want from the new CBA are ... no more ******** manipulation of service time clocks. Get rid of them. If they get called up, that season is automatically their 1st year of control. right there. No # of days, nothing. If they're up at all, even to ride the bench, burn the year. Make teams want to call up their players instead of giving them incentives not to. and pitch clocks. Good god give me a pitch clock to stop all the endless down time between pitches.
  17. The swing and miss began with his hip injury (torn labrum) in 2020.
  18. What would the interest in Matt Chapman be like? Via trade he'd certainly be less expensive to acquire than Ramirez - who's probably the best choice, all things considered. He still hits HRs, still plays spectacular D and Oakland is getting rid of cost as fast as they can. Would people be willing to bet that his swing and miss starts to regress back towards career norms rather than staying the same or getting worse?
  19. I like the way you think. Though I will add there’s a chance that Kirk is used as trade bait as well to fill a need. Moreno still plays 3rd, they use useless McGuire as the backup and play Jansen more than just 2 out of 3… more like 4 out of 5. Or trade Kirk, release McGuire and sign some other solid backup that isn’t a complete waste of a bat. The real question is whether or not the Jays feel confident enough in Moreno to play 3rd right from the start of the season or not. The new CBA could also impact that decision if arbitration/super 2 and years of control change from the current system.
  20. Jesus….
  21. Wish I could read the whole article. Anyone with a subscription give the condensed version? Like say a 23 year old just had a 7 WAR season, then gets paid next year based on that. WHat happens if he gets hurt and only puts up 2 fWAR next season? Pay cut?
  22. Vlad, Semien and Teoscar with Silver Slugger awards. Teoscar’s second straight. Vlad and Semien were no brainers of course
  23. Pfft. shameful objectification sir. Also, f*** yes she does.
  24. Yeah it's a nice mix. They just don't have that one guy that can take over a game but the way they function as a unit is pretty impressive given some very inexperienced players getting big minutes. It's pretty encouraging that once the foundation is laid again, we know Masai will find a way to bring in the finishing touches.
