    Yes, but his 1st 2 seasons were.... less than stellar. 1st arb contract takes all 3 years into account, not just the most recent one.

    Yeah, he fouled off Montgomery into making a mistake. What was that 4 or 5 fouls after 2 strikes?

    True. And if the price tag centres around Kirk, and doesn’t include Moreno, it doesn’t really damage the long term outlook at C. Obviously there would be more to the trade than just Kirk, but even if it’s Kirk + Orelvis + lottery ticket…..Groshans or any of the other IF prospects could very well be ready to take over from Chapman in 2 years, or even Moreno if they feel he’s better suited to 3b than catcher. Would I want to give up both Kirk and Orelvis? Not typically, but if you can get JRam for 2 years at his money to play 2b, which still leaves flexibility to sign other guys (IE pen help) in the upcoming offseason…I’d be hard pressed not to pull that trigger.

    I like the line, but was he actually nasty? Of was it a case of kids swinging at stuff way out of the zone because they dont know any better yet? Genuinely curious as I missed the game but i've seen this type of line from him before when the reality was he was all over the place and just bailed out by undisciplined hitters.

    Interesting pitches. Looked like sinker(maybe 2 seamer), 4 seam FB, curve and 2 seam FB.

    Oh no doubt, Bird (if he made the team) would be nothing more than a pinch hitter off the bench that if he made it on base would be lifted for a pinch runner, a guy you put in after the 7th in any kind of blowout win/loss to protect Vlad from pointless injury, and maybe 1 start every 10 games. like... 200ish PAs would be the hope and that he hits like Matt Stairs did when he was here.

    Sounds like AA was under specific directives not to really even try. Too bad, but I guess Atlanta is happy with the title, will up the prices on everything this year due to the hype and go back to be being a middling club that might luck into the expanded playoffs because their division is a joke. But, at least they got Rosario back. /sarcasm

    Bird would be the lefty on the bench rather than McGuire, who would have been previously punted into the sun, where he belongs.

    As much as I'd love to get him, I think it's past the point of possible unless there's a lot going right and wrong at the same time nearing the deadline.

    I'm aware, just saying that his numbers in AAA last year were nothing to be super hyped about like the other poster seemed to be.

    It would be for sure. you never have to worry about mistakes or injuries since you can just buy your way out if you need to. Not that the Dodgers make a lot of mistakes honestly.

    You missed the " for a 28 year old in AAA part " .... a 28 year old in AAA should be destroying AAA, not being merely above average.

    Look at his 2020 splits. he was pretty much equal in all fields. In 2019 he was pull-dominant until it was a high leverage situation, then... spray hitter, and hit like dogshit. I'm betting his quote was moreso indicating he plans on continuing his pull-heavy approach in all situations from 2021.

    Don't get your hopes too high unless he has acquired a bionically repaired ankle.

    I actually think they Jays should take it one step further. If Cleveland is so hung up on getting Manoah, say... fine. You can have Manoah, Moreno, Biggio and Kirk ++ .... we get Bieber and J Ram. Go all in like a boss - and still have Groshans and Orelvis in the fold.

    Very true. Just saying that his good year vs a Biggio good year is pretty significant for a team that's trying to get over the 95-ish wins threshold. By no means is trading for him needed, but to think that an offer of Pearson, Kirk and Biggio would even come close to getting a deal done is pretty silly. (not your words, i know). Plus, when talking about this trade vs the Olson trade and trying to compare... gotta remember that different teams value different players and prospects differently, not to mention that Olson is a 1b, vs a plus defending 3b (or 2b i guess) with roughly equal offensive output. That's a pretty big difference.
