  1. Basically comes down to where it hit. Left centre to right center it’s mostly an out, then a double 3.4% of the time, and a triple 1% of the time. Anything foul poul to left centre, or foul pole to right centre, it’s a HR. Projected distance on that in a neutral environment is about 370. His went 393. So….I guess we can say it could have been a home run, but the wind definitively helped it get to 393.
  2. I checked baseball savant, on 102 mph exit velocity with 35degree launch angle, it’s a HR 52% of the time. So I concede that I’m half right, half wrong.
  3. You may want to double check that with the launch angle.
  4. Are you watching the broadcast? The wind is howling out to LF
  5. Jesus, St. Louis beat washington 29 to 8.
  6. Lol, no. That was probably a routine fly pushed out by the wind and it barely got out.
  7. Attaboy Santiago, get that ball in that wind and watch it goooooooo
  8. Connor Phillips is officially the player to be named later going from Seattle to Cincinnati in the Jesse Winker heist. Per MLB.come write up: “More than any pitcher in the organization, Phillips is the classic high-risk, high-upside arm that has some scouts marveling and others uncertain. On one hand, the righty had a 32.6% strikeout rate in 2021, and on the other, a 1.477 WHIP. Elite stuff with some command issues has been the profile for the former JUCO pitcher, whom the Mariners liked enough in 2020 to use their Competitive Balance Round B pick on, signing him for a full-slot bonus of just over $1 million.” Fangraphs opinion on Phillips FV 40: “In high school, Phillips was best when he was 88-92 with command, but could sit 91-94 and hit 96 mph while losing the strike zone. He decided not to sign as 35th round pick by Toronto out of high school in 2019, and opted for junior college rather than following through on an LSU commitment. He began hitting 98 in the fall of 2019 and held that velo coming out early in 2020 before slipping back into the 91-94 range by mid-February, though he’s back into the mid-90s now. Phillips has three good-looking pitches but his grip-and-rip style of pitching is more evocative of a reliever. He’ll try to back door his curveball for strikes but otherwise there aren’t many present pitchability elements to speak of here. (Fall Instructional League)”
  9. Interesting suit. He doesn’t specify damages, just asks for what the court deems appropriate, along with his own legal fees. Im no lawyer, but he hasn’t actually suffered any monetary damages yet, just reputation. How does a jury determine what his reputation damage is worth if he hasn’t suffered any actual monetary damages?
  10. Well it’s interesting that’s the case with Yimi, since the Latino language don’t even have a hard J sound in it. There’s some soft-ish sounding j sounds but they’re closer to the English pronunciation of treasure…kind of a soft j and soft g mixed together.
  11. Grant will admit, at some point during the season, that he was wrong about something.

Typical Oilers though. Draisaitl had 4 points including a hat trick and was a -4. All 9 goals against were even strength too.
  13. Yup. 100% this. It’s too easy to forget that all these pitchers are going out there with pretty specific goals of throwing X number of each pitch, regardless of the situation.
  14. Why? It’s spring training and nobody got hurt. Today was a good day
  15. Also possible. Still 2 open spots on the 40 man roster, 1 of which would be filled by Bird in the above scenario.
  16. He threw his pitches, and he’s not hurt. That’s all ST is about.
  17. Barring an injury between now and then…this is likely the exact 28 guys that will be coming north for April. Can’t argue with it at all.
  18. Montoyo: “The Blue Jays and I are aware of what happened — of the incident involving Pete,” Montoyo said. “But we're still gathering information. And, out of respect for the process, that's all I know.” Montoyo would not say whether Walker would face any discipline from the club. Shortly after Walker and Montoyo gave their statements, the team issued its own which closely echoed Montoyo’s. “The Toronto Blue Jays are aware of the recent police incident involving Pete Walker,” the statement read. “The club is currently gathering more information and out of respect for the legal process, there will be no further comment at this time.”
  19. An arrest affidavit obtained by Sportsnet alleged Walker was stopped at approximately 12:06 a.m. ET Friday morning near County Road 611 and Curlew Road in Oldsmar, Fla. after being clocked on a radar gun driving 82 mph in a 45 mph zone. The affidavit says Walker refused a breath alcohol content test but showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests. A deputy reported that Walker “admitted to drinking four beers at a bar/eating facility.” The affidavit states Walker was observed by the deputy to have “a strong odor of alcoholic beverage” on his breath, poor balance, and glassy, bloodshot eyes.
  20. Walker’s statement: “There was a traffic incident on Thursday night that I was involved in. Obviously, I'm very apologetic to the Blue Jay organization, Blue Jays fans, and my family,” Walker said in a statement Saturday afternoon. “It’s something that I'm working through with my attorney to get resolution to right now. Obviously, my apologies to my three daughters as well. Right now we're working through it with my attorney for a resolution in this. And that's the only comment I'll have right now.”
  21. Will probably never get the true 100% context though. He drove, went way too fast, got pulled over and the cops could smell the alcohol on him, did a field sobriety test, which he failed, and they arrested and charged him. He bonded out for 500$. While at the station he admitted to having drank 4 beers earlier in the night at a bar/restaurant. That's probably all the context we'll ever get.
  22. Or... 5 more. Ah well, good start. 50 pitches and not hurt = good.
  23. Nice, Manoah still out there. Give him another 10-15 pitches and call it a day
  24. Nobody is hurt. That's all that really matters at this point.
  25. I want to see Manoah for one more inning, only 44 pitches.
