    Its not that simple. Those 3 prospects are probably better than anyone else would offer so the Tigers would be idiots not to accept.

    I like this thought process unless the potential return on Hoffman is one that you just cant say no to. You then still have them at next years deadline if theyre in the same position as now, or you have a dynamic back of the pen that you actually want going into a playoff stretch. The chance of injury variable or random reliever variance variable is the same in either scenario so thats not really a concern

    I get this weird feeling we are going to be very dissappointed in this trade deadline. The way the season has gone so far, not getting rid of the pending FAs for eve 1 or 2 useful bodies would the the diarrhea frosting on an already sh*t filled cake.

    Definitely some risk with the swing and miss in Reyes' profile but the upside is clear. Agreed thats a nice return for Kremer even with 1 more season of control

    Hard not to get even a little bit excited about Nimmala and Parker manning the IF together in 2028 or so. Jesus in the outfield. A guy can dream...

    Yeah no sorry, wasn't saying he was going to be that bad, just that his career path is likely as a backup MIF, like Macdonald's was.

    Thats my thinking as well. While the realm of possibilities includes real change in his swing to get more lift, it's unlikely. The plus D and good eye will get him a look and he can probably be a good bench player like John Macdonald or something, but expecting a breakout at this stage in his career is probably not in the cards.

    More discipline..less power. Probably cancels out honestly unless he runs a consistently high babip. Plus, pitchers in the majors generally don't walk slap hitters with no power once they realize he has no power. I suspect his walk rate comes down more than other prospects. Not trying to slag Kasevich either he's definetly going to play in the majors, but it will be as a back-up MIF with great d and limited bat. He won't move the needle

    Clement-lite is probably the ceiling.

    3 HRs and 2 doubles along with a single in his last 7 games. Hes coming along quite nicely. He could spend all of next season at AA and still be way ahead of the curve.

    I think "cleaning house" is just a the easiest knee-jerk and emotional type of reaction that fans have. If front offices ran their business this way half the teams in baseball would be cleaning house every season. The most difficult part about running a multi-billion dollar organization is keeping emotions out of decision making.

    Theres no universal date for players to ahve their no trade lists in to the team, but whatever date it is would be in his contract. I would also assume there is an edit point as you said which could be requested by the team towards the trade deadline. Of course the player could just keep it the same, and of course they could still waive it at any time too.

    22.025 was the QO after 2025 so, probably around 23 million after 2026.

    Santander being the obvious internal candidate for DH who's cost is already on the books.

    Ernie is a slap hitting guy with a good glove. These guys dont hit the lottery in arb. ARB for hitters generally rewards HRs, RBIs, hits, slg, ops etc. One thing playing in Ernie's favour is that he was an All-Star which counts in the players column of "special achievments" but that doesnt guarantee a massive raise either. Sanchez might only hit 10 HRs this year, not exactly a standout baseball card. Also, bear in mind we have to judge these new arb rewards based on the recent bumps in the minimum salary. They started their arb 1 cases with almost double the base salary of guys even 6 years ago. Thats a big factor to the actual $ they get now. I'd wager the % increases are roughly the same

    Clement isn't the type of player a team acquires at the deadline for a stretch run unless someone just got hurt, and even then... light hitting utility IFs with good gloves don't generally return much. The years of arb remaining do up his value a bit though to a team that actually has a hole they want to fill for more than half a season. What team in the post-season for sure would pay up for Ernie to make moving him worth it?

    Arb wont be a big deal. Clement, Lukes and Sanchez dont have the right stats that arb rewards. Varland only has 1 season of saves, so his counting stats will also not be overly impacting.

    Not gonna lie, this team is very hard to watch right now with any real optimism
