  1. Urquidy and Odirizzi aren’t BAD per se, but they certainly wouldn’t be the kind of arms people target via trade when someone like Moreno is involved. He’s a consensus top 10 prospect in baseball. A GM would be burned at the stake for trading him for a 4/5 starter like Odorizzi or Urquidy. In your own words, Gurriel is okay value, McCormick is filler. So your trade has us giving up the best prospect in the trade, the best OF in the trade and a no value bum in Biggio for two average to below average starters, a worse prospect, a worse outfielder and two mid tier prospects that are even worse than Lee. Do you see the problem here?
  2. There’s so much wrong with this trade I won’t bother going into immense detail. It’s just not realistic. Why would the Jays trade a young, highly touted catcher, a very decent starting OF, and a very average Jack of some trades for a middling starter to crap, a confirmed crap starter, a worse catcher and an average OF with some upside? A more realistic ask from the Jays would be like Danny Jansen for MCormick.
  3. Joe Jimenez - Detroit Tyler Kinley - Colorado If I’m Atkins I’m definitely targeting relievers and probably bench depth. The offense/defense starters are legitimately fine and with even half of them starting to track back to their career norms or projections …fine. Starting pitching….unless the perfect trade scenario manifests, I don’t think they really target anything here. The top 3 of Berrios, Gausman and Manoah will be relied upon, Stripling is the de facto 4 and has been fine, and will probably continue to be fine. The 5 spot is a problem but we all know Kikuchi is going to get another shot at this once his whiplash “injury” heals. Improve the bench and the pen by dealing from strengths (Jansen) and cutting bait (Tapia and however many crap relievers deserve to be punted) and the team looks immensely better without taking anything away from the core.
  4. It would hopefully be left up to Brown to see if he wanted to pursue a promotion if one was available. It’s incredibly douchey to stop someone from pursuing a promotion with a different club if a position is available and that club has asked permission to interview one of your employees for it.
  5. He’s the VP of scouting, GM would be a pretty big step up. Besides, here Atkins is Executive Vice President, Baseball Operations & General Manager, so Brown coming here would be exactly what you suggested.
  6. Bo in the 2 spot just has to stop. It’s not working. He’s not getting on base enough and not hitting the ball well enough. He’s just not the right kind of guy to be hitting that high right now. Springer, Vlad, Kirk, Teo, Gurriel, Bo, Biggio, Chapman, Espinal.
  7. Dana Brown to replace Atkins please. Brown is such a master of player evaluations it’s disgusting
  8. I doubt it, but there aren't many player only option years on contracts anymore. Usually it's just team options or mutual options, which are really just team options in disguise. Opt-outs exist, but players will very rarely opt out unless they 100% know they are going to make more money.
  9. Is Russia causing a fire sale?
  10. Just because they could. I know it sounds dumb but that’s honestly the only reason
  11. “Regression to the mean” doesn’t explain swing decisions when he’s never had a problem with swing decisions in the past. You should probably understand both the question and your own answer before sounding like a twit
  12. Very possible I guess, he has been getting hosed a ton
  13. What good is Vlad losing weight in the off-season if he packs it all back on by the all star break?
  14. Espinal swing decisions have been pure trash for like 6 weeks now, wtf
  15. Awe, now I want orange slices…
  16. Well, given what we’ve seen from other pitchers on the staff recently, I’d rather see a guy make them hit their way on then getting 8 free base runners without swinging a bat in 2 innings
  17. Holy god this is gonna be along game…ump is a clown show
  18. He’s gonna go yard tonight. Book it
  19. July 7 Vladdy - 1 Point - Dylan Kirk - 1 Point - Bichette - 2 Points - Stangstag Teo - 2 Points - Chapman - 3 Points - Gurriel Jr - 4 Points - Espinal - 5 Points - Moreno - 7 Points - JFD Zimmer - 8 Points - John_Havok Off the bench: 9 Points -
  20. Ah yes, the old phantom neck injury from watching balls either get rocketed over your head, or whiplash from having to check all the baserunner's you've put on via walk or HBP. About time.
  21. He's light years better with the bat than Tapia, and though usually worse on D, Tpaia has played so terribly in the field this year Schwarber would actually represent an upgrade.
  22. Don't get me wrong, I would probably rather see him in the lineup than Tapia - just that 2B is a pipe dream. Any guy at 24 that's been identified as a 1b/DH and THEN a LF has virtually 0 chance anywhere else on the diamond.
  23. But did he buy them a nice meal?
