  1. Yeah, not every pic of every jays was taken from the back. I still cant find one of Ducey that shows his damn number,.
  2. Anyone have a clue which hat McGriff is going to wear? From an article I was perusing: He played 636 games with the Braves, 578 with the Toronto Blue Jays and 577 with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Of those teams, he had the most success with the Braves, winning one World Series and making three All-Star teams with Atlanta. If McGriff went in as a Brave, he’d be the 11th player to go into the Hall with an Atlanta hat. Toronto has one Hall of Famer, and coincidentally it’s Roberto Alomar, who went to the Blue Jays in a trade that involved McGriff. If it’s with the Devil Rays, which, by the way, McGriff is a Tampa native, he would be the organization’s first.
  3. Brown, on the other hand, had a 9 year stretch where he was a legit ace. 55.6 WAR accumulated over that 9 year stretch (6 WAR per season) , plus another 6+ war season outside of that peak. If anything, the knock on Brown is that he was always overshadowed by guys having otherworldly seasons ahead of him. Anytime Brown had Cy votes, the winners were Maddux, Smoltz, Glavine(Brown was f***ing robbed that year), Randy Johnson, and Randy Johnson.
  4. It's not just about WAR. WAR is something that for a HOF thing, you look at and be like "whoa, did we miss something here?" and then do a deeper dive on someone to see what's up. Wells never really had a great peak during his career where he was THE guy. He did have some great seasons, but Wells was never the leader of a rotations for years on end nor was he ever truly in the conversation for Cy Young year in and year out for 5-7 seasons like you see with most dominatn pitchers. Wells had maybe 1 or 2 seasons like that. The rest were your solid #2/3 pitcher years (mostly leaning towards 2) Wells and Pettitte compare relatively close to each other in that way IMO. Both enjoyed very short peaks, and a long career as a guy everyone would want in their rotation, but they weren't aces.
  5. Yeah Florida dumped Delgado along with Beckett and MIke Lowell all in like one week to save 30 million in payroll for the 2006 season.
  6. He was joking. Delgado only played one season in Florida.
  7. Pity votes are the same as participation medals. The fact they got their names on the ballot is recognition enough.
  8. Pettitte is in the same classification as Buerhle for me. Workhorses that never sucked, and the only thing they truly did exceptionally was never really get blown out. Solid pitchers that all rotations need, but they aren’t the ace. Aces make the hall. Not hall worthy imo. Brown was better than both of them by far.
  9. Whomever voted for Dickey, Arroyo, Street, Napoli and Lackey should have their voting priviledges revoked immediately. They're obviously f***ing morons.
  10. Naw, those 20 kilos of cocaine was for personal use.
  11. Yeah Jamie is basically a matter of when, not if. - lymphocytic leukemia has no cure, just management Buck, they didnt really publicly release specifics, just said it was neck and head cancer.
  12. And anyone wondering who gave up #21 for Mr Clemens? This guy
  13. Yup. Need wins, saves, and big K numbers. innings matter also but obviously treated different for starters vs relievers.
  14. Every pitcher that isnt starting is a failed starter, that hasn't really changed much. Their usage sure has
  15. Not just the first to wear it, he was the guy who came up with the idea to take the goalie mask and adjust/change it as needed to suit the MLB.
  16. He could go to the Jays list of injury busts. While not looking like a star player or anything, he could have settled in as maybe average. He did put up .3 fWAR in his very limited sample of 140 PA before his brain got scrambled. During the 2017 World Baseball Classic, Pompey suffered a concussion as he slid into second base during a play and was subsequently placed on the 60-day disabled list by the Blue Jays. He did not make an appearance with Toronto during the 2017 season. On May 4, 2018, Pompey returned to the majors for the first time since 2016 in a game against the Tampa Bay Rays. On May 12, he was optioned down to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons. In a May 29, 2018 game for Buffalo, Pompey suffered a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb, sustaining the injury sliding headfirst into third base. He did not appear in the majors again that year as he continued to rehab in the minor leagues. Before a March 21, 2019 spring training game, Pompey was pulled from the lineup after he hit his head on some bats at the top of his locker before the game. Pompey was diagnosed with a concussion and was placed on the injured list. On April 2, Pompey was transferred to the 60-day injured list. On July 23, 2019, Pompey was designated for assignment. He spent the remainder of the 2019 season in the minors and on November 4, 2019, Pompey elected free agency
  17. That’s right, Joey Bats first wore #23
  18. He could be. Probably room to argue either way.
  19. #19 is even better when you recall who wore it from 1993-1995.
  20. Just off the top of my head #19 might be on the short list
  21. #24 for the Jays really is a wasteland of nobodies, with the exception of Rickey Henderson in 1993, Shannon Stewart and Ricky Romero. Who could forget household names like Chuck Hartenstein, Willie Aikens, Glenallen Hill, Jim Acker, Greg Cadaret, Turner Ward, Dave Righetti, Bobby Kielty, Sean Douglass, Mariano Duncan, Paul Spoljaric and Nate Pearson?
  22. Good god that's short in RCF and LCF
  23. Muncy hasnt even been a primary 3B, except for last season, Turner is on the way down... though he has been a very good 3b in the past. I could see an argument for Yandy above Chapman if you look at Offense over defense, and CHappy is just flat out better than DJ...so yeah... Chappy should be a solid #7 on that list.
