    Apparently the Pittsburgh broadcast thinks Varsho is Jansen. LOL Hope Varsho gets on and we can see how the Jays plan to use the stolen base

    Some really nice sliders from Kikuchi. Fastball was decent but still a bit wild, and dropped a nice changeup on Cutch. So far so good.

    and still kinda useful. Such a great player at his peak too, that 5 year stretch he had was pretty great with 5 straight AS, 3 straight top 3 MVP and 1 MVP win in there too.

    Yes, espcially the winter part. Was -30 in Lethbridge the night before last, but just in time for spring training games, it will be up to +1 today. Perfect timing.

    Both will probably start in the minors. Not being cynical, just that with the # of arms the Jays have in the pen without options, unless Pearson looks like he's Edwin Diaz, he probably starts his season in Buffalo unless there's an injury or two in the pen prior to the season starting. Tiedemann has exactly 11 innings pitched as AA and 78 in his 1 pro season of the minors. He would be definitely limited on innings this season (like.. 130 maybe?) so it's probably better for him to start out in AA to have his innings managed, and if there came a point where he was just utterly dominant and the Jays had a need down the stretch in the thick of a playoff race.. then maybe you bring him up to finish up his innings while helping the club. I don't see many scenarios where he starts the season out of the rotation with the big club. *rain....parade*

    I don't know this for a fact, but I'd be willing to be the complex is open for anyone in the org any day of the year. For guys in the lower minors that arent bonus babies though it would be a matter of whether or not they can afford to actually be there and not working in the offseason.

    For sure. Contrast Orelvis with Barger's numbers last year in AA... 20 year old Orelvis: BB% 8.1, K% 28.5, ISO .242, BABIP .217, .203/.286/.446 triple slash with a 96 wRC+ (492 PAs) LD rate 16%, FB rate 51%, IFFB rate 24% 22 year old Barger: BB% 9.1, K% 25.3, ISO .216, BABIP .390, .313/.384/.528 triple slash with a 147 wRC+ (198 PAs) LD rate 20%, FB rate 43.3%, IFFB rate 25.5% As Laika pointed out earlier, IFFB rate doesnt stabilize very quickly and there's probably a grain of salt to be taken along with the numbers. Barger is in the top 60, Orelvis outside the top 100. Overreaction on both in opposite ways perhaps?

    Franco and Orelvis are two completely different hitters though. Franco was a supreme contact guy with above average power. Orelvis has monster power and a lousy hit tool. I guess the similarity is that both feel like they can hit anything that comes their way

    Im actually in agreemnt with Brownie. The more people the Jays can hire to get ahead of the curve in their labs, the better. Get the Blue Jays to the forefront of the analytics/Driveline type of thing and it can only help in player and draft signings. Tiedemann right now is Exhibit A in the brochure.

    Honestly, I am loving trolling old people on facebook, twitter and virtually anywhere else i can about the new rules. It's like anytime there's a post about the new rules, its' like the bat signal to anyone over 50 to get on and whine about how the game is ruined.

    I think what youll find is that PAs will trend downward in the # of pitches thrown per PA. I'm not sure why I think this, it just seems like that should happen
