  1. Jansen hurt... because he's jansen. "a fracture of the pisiform bone in his right wrist, manager John Schneider revealed to reporters today (X links via Keegan Matheson of MLB.com). He was hit by a pitch during the Jays’ Grapefruit League game earlier this week. The team currently expects him to miss a “couple weeks,” though he has a follow-up appointment today that could reveal more information." Guy just keeps catching all the breaks.
  2. the KKK lineup??? Awe man, someone needs to adjust that batting order.
  3. I covered this in another thread. I split squat 7,000 pounds as a warmup. Do you even lift bro?
  4. One would be foolish to presume that they won't get hit going into a fight.
  5. Lol. You're right, I'd have to catch you first. But if I did...little bitty Connorp meatballs. And it's 8 inches taller.
  6. I doubt I’ll get a PM lol. Connorp doesn’t care that much
  7. Yeah there’s a few people I’ve run into in bars and clubs that think using the f-word is normal. Well it might be normal to you…or them to use it, but it is 100% a slur against homosexuals, whether you intend it that way or not. Maybe it’s ignorance because you’re young, or whatever but it is. So my advice to you is, when you’re in public, be damn sure if you plan on using that word that you’re surrounded by other bigots where the word is normalized. Had you used it in my presence, you wouldn’t even get the chance to apologize and you’d be eating through a straw for a month or two.
  8. If by “chance” you mean virtual certainty…then yes.
  9. This is just code for "Asians all look the same".... You racist bastard! /Sarcasm
  10. I believe they mentioned early on in camp some adjustments they suggested for Serven to try at the plate. They seem to be working.
  11. Even the run that scored was due to Escobar messing up what should have been the inning ending DP. Couldn't watch but I was listening to the twins radio cast. Parsons showed well also though I doubt he'll ever be much more than a #5 at best depth guy. Command just isn't consistent enough even with the kitchen sink repertoire.
  12. Two sides to the coin though. By and large, the pitches that are "healthier" for the arm are probably "easier" to hit. Not much in pitching has really changed over the years other than the understanding of arm mechanics and how to make the ball spin more. Past truths still exist. Perfect location is still lethal. Perfect location is impossible to have consistently. Throwing harder increases the margin of error. It's become easier to give guys exercise plans to increase strength and velo than it is to teach command, which you can never be perfect at. They've found that pitching your 100% stuff for shorter periods of time leads to more wins than throwing 85-90% stuff for longer periods for the vast majority of pitchers. The pitfalls of injury pretty much stem from those truths. As for the "teams not willing to invest in pitching" angle. Yeah, although I think teams would gladly give pitchers shorter term deals for bigger AAVs than long term deals for lower AAVs. I'd personally never want to go past 4 years on a starting pitcher and ever expect it to go well. Snell could probably sign for 1/30 tomorrow, but I doubt he'd get 6/120. SPs could very well become the hired guns of baseball where they're all on deal no longer than 4 years, but for higher AAVs, kinda like how relievers are now except in the ~50 mill AAV range for the true ace SP rather than 15-20 AAV for the Edwin Diaz type relievers.
  13. I don't get the weird moral crusade the morons and idiots have about tty ng to prove something is wrong with society when you'd rather not be bombarded by denigrating and offensive slurs...when they're clearly being intended as denigrating and offensive slurs. Like what's the "gotcha" moment when you intentionally insult and say things designed to make someone else feel like s*** for no reason other than where they put their genitalia? "See you're offended when I say things that are designed to make you offended...gotcha! You're soft...LOLolOLoL"
  14. Objectively a weird move for the Padres, but…thank you Preller.
  15. Command is still really hard. It would be foolish to assume that a large amount of pitchers would suddenly gain a few tiers of command simply because they are throwing with less effort. Even thirty years ago when they weren't max effort there were still only a few guys with top command.
  16. Yeah, it’s got nothing to do with the pitch clock and the 2 seconds less of recovery between pitches. It’s throwing max effort with max torque for spin rates on every pitch for as many pitches as they can. It’s less of an issue for relievers since they only throw 20-30 pitches per outing max and have usually at least 1 if not 2 days off between appearances. On one side…more velo and better spin generally = more success assuming you have a clue where it’s going. Getting those 15-18 outs before turning it over to the pen and multiple 1 inning maximum guys is what is winning games more often. If suddenly tomorrow all the pitchers in baseball went back to 85-90% effort….scoring would go through the roof. Hitters would love it.
  17. Nobody can really qualify as depth to replace a guy like Gausman. They’ll always be a big step down. There’s enough bodies to make starts for 2-3 SP injuries depending on the duration. Francis, White, Parsons, Espino would be the guys more capable of throwing more innings (effectiveness TBD) shorter term injuries Tiedemann, Yariel, Richards spot starting. Wildcard of Little, not sure where he shakes out at this point. Obviously not every guy on that list would step in and be amazing, but there’s nobody else out there to sign either unless they’re a minor league deal. Montgomery and Snell are just not happening I’d be very tempted to grab Velasquez even though he’s still recovering from surgery for later on in the season. He was still throwing decent before he went down in June last year
  18. This describes every rotation in baseball. If their best arm is hurt and another guy sucks....omg!
  19. Barger, Orelvis and Zulu have been optioned to AAA, and Berroa sent to minor league camp
  20. Judge himself said it wasn't an oblique. My money is on sports hernia
  21. And yet, somehow theyll still win 85 games after trading for Cease and not giving up the stud OF in the process
  22. Connor Cooke data from today. Just like Tiedemann, Savant has trouble classifying his fastball as a 4 seamer vs a sinker given the spin rates and movement.
  23. That's the kind of swing and approach that Espinal needs to be successful. Drive it to the gap the other way instead of try to be a pull HR hitter.
  24. I’ll raise you and say Clement > Schneider. Too far?
