  1. Rodon’s deal and subsequent reality is probably the reason no team was going to gamble on Snell with a similar deal. Giving Cole his deal was risky enough on a track record of dominance and health. Pitchers and their agents I think really need to adjust their demands and focus on shorter terms with higher AAV
  2. I’m not so sure, how long has he been a healthy top of the rotation guy? 2 seasons out of the last 6? Dude walked the most hitters in MLB last year while winning the Cy Young. I think there enough question marks surrounding his health and his command that a long term deal was probably never in the cards despite what he was seeking. Even Montgomery was rumoured to be wanting a 7 year deal. That’s lunacy for a guy who’s only been really good for such a short time overall. I don’t blame them for wanting to get as much as possible but thy have to be somewhat realistic at the same time.
  3. That was the same guy who won powerball, he was on vacation in the Caribbean
  4. White and Pearson are quite similar...both get bad results, stuff should indicate better but bad command makes their stuff play down. Watching White today was like watching 2 different pitchers. One hitter he's junk, the next...three straight whiffs and it's nasty. White does get more swing and miss though

Oilers and Colorado is a banger of a game. End to end with lots of scoring chances.
  6. Tampa's owner already crying poor for the season: As relayed by Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, principle owner Stuart Sternberg recently spoke regarding the new high-water mark for spending in Tampa and the club’s future payrolls. In his comments, Sternberg indicated that the elevated payroll for 2024 is “going to lead to real losses this year” for the club.
  7. Nah, he's 50/50. He knows what buttons to push even if he doesn't share the opinion. He's been anti IKF from the start and actually can support why without inventing hindsight arguments.
  8. I love contrary opinions. Properly argued and based on actual facts is great. Mindless bitching based on suppositions, assumptions, and general idiocy is like talking to a whiney toddler. It serves no purpose
  9. Yeah I forgot to mention his last option year being this year. So he’s a bench guy at best in 2025, and if Bo leaves, the odds on starting SS in 2026. That doesn’t excite me in the least.
  10. Yeah Espinal clones have their place so guess. Cheap bench players three years from now could be useful.
  11. Top 5 in the Jays system isn’t exactly huge praise in the totality of MLB at this point though, be honest. Using their own rankings, Orelvis which is the Jays #2 overall is ranked 89th overall. Where would that put Jimenez….top…250-300?
  12. So…you just posted exactly why he profiles as Espinal-lite….and still don’t know why it’s not a big deal if he was lost? DFA, trade, whatever, he’s not a guy to lose sleep over if he was moved, however it gets done.
  13. Okay, but….since teams could already sign guys in or out of a hearing before and exceptionally rarely did…why would that change now when they’ve lost the ability to do so with the vast majority of players and it could have happened with literally dozens of other players this year and it didn’t?
  14. Really? Why is a Jimenez untouchable if you need a 40 man spot? He profiles as a backup MIF, you can sign any one of 15 of those kinds of guys in any offseason
  15. Possibilities IMO include Leo Jimenez as a straight DFA. Superfluous IF with a noodle bat that won’t be missed. I mean, his ceiling at this point is Espinal-lite. The other move I think would be a trade to clear a spot, but if the decision needs to be made for Votto, that decision likely isn’t needing to be made for a while yet. Sounds like he’s willing to start in AAA until he feels like he’s ready.
  16. Stroman getting nuked a bit by the NY media/fans Marcus Stroman declined the Yankees when asked if he wanted to pitch Opening Day in place of Gerrit Cole, noting a desire to maintain his current routine and to not alter his pitching schedule.
  17. This is why my ignore list is so long. Most of them don’t even know Urshela is coming off a broken pelvis injury, surgery and recovery so it’s really easy to understand why a contending team wouldn’t want to roll that dice and why his market was so soft. Facts don’t matter though, just feelings and ignorant ramblings. Connorp though isn’t that kind of fan though, he just likes to stir the pot a bit. Easy to recognize his trolls versus his actual opinions. The constant bitch and moaners though, you’re right. Could present any hundred scenarios of the off-season and they’d whine and bitch about every single one even if the FO did exactly what the thought they should do because a signing came a few days after it should have, or the contract was signed in blue ink rather than black
  18. You’ve cracked the code on the difference between being a fan, and being a front office member tasked with building and maintaining a franchise. Fans live for the moments. Execs cant
  19. It never has or the players would are shitloads more money in arbitration
  20. It was one of those things that’s as already there prior to this CBA. The gains the players made on this one compared to the last one was that anyone who agrees to a deal prior to arbitration is now 100% guaranteed, they didn’t have that before. So, flipping it a bit, before the last CBA agreement, teams could cut anyone who was in their arb years and had agreed to a deal before the hearing …or they could cut him after the hearing if they wanted to and just pay out the termination pay. With the new CBA the owners gave up the ability to get out from under the vast majority of arbitration deals once most are agreed to without hearings. That’s a pretty big win for the players. It’s playing out poorly for Davis in this instance, but I highly doubt this will become common practice. It would be very easily seen through as anti-competitive and collusion-ish
  21. I cant think of a single person here who didn't expect Jansen to get hurt at some point.
  22. Kirk was already much slower....
  23. To be fair, predicting a Jansen injury is like predicting water will be wet. At least this one isnt the hamate bone, it's not as bad and won't take as long to come back from I'm also going out on a limb and saying Giancarlo Stanton will be on the injured list this year
  24. I think Yariel is starting that game also
  25. Serven just made the team I guess.
