  1. Kinda like he might be compensating for a slight injury A strikeout and 3 rockets given up, luckily only 1 left the yard 100.6, 107.3 (HR) and 107.2.
  2. Romano looks hurt. He was grabbing his left side a bit
  3. The absolute best of the Negro leagues for sure would have been stars in MLB, but to say that the overall skill in the Negro Leagues was on par with MLB is doubtful. More likely the Negro Leagues were a lot like early early MLB where the best guys were so far ahead of the worst players that they stood out way more.
  4. Best call of his career
  5. I like the design but the colour's just don't pop on the front. I like the sleeves with the red and blue, but the dark blue city skyline on black with like faded orange lettering just doesn't stand out enough. Should have used the same red from the sleeves and hat on the lettering, and given the skyline more detail with a brighter colour. Any more than 5 feet away it's just a blue smudge
  6. Just ran an arbitrary cutoff date of May5th to present... Schneider basically is using all the hottest hitters in this lineup with 2 exceptions. Kirk and KK should be in over Clement and Biggio, but then we'd have a real defensive problem trying to get Vogelbach and Jansen/Kirk at the DH spot. If you really wanted to shoehorn them all in there and say f*** the defense...you'd move Vlad to third, IKF to the OF, Schneider at 2b, Vogelbach to 1st and DH Jansen.
  7. Mainly trying to say that the reason you crater snt a loss of batspeed when you're still roughly league average. I highly doubt he was anywhere near where Vlad currently is even at his best. IF we assume that he's lost even 1 mph on average batspeed that would be a factor, but it wouldn't explain the crater. Like you said it's likely a change in approach needed. He's late on virtually every fastball, that doesn't happen with league average bat speed, that happens when your approach/timing is bad.
  8. His batspeed is just slightly below major league average and still 75th percentile speed.
  9. Being in shape means jack s*** when you don't want to hit fastballs
  10. On a team that's struggling for offense, you play Jansen behind the plate as often as you can and take the defense first catcher as the backup, where he should be. Jansen is also good defensively. Not as good as Kirk, but when he's a plus D, plus bat, he plays over plus plus D, minus minus bat.
  11. Seems odd to me to play a guy more when he's brutal with the bat and has been for quite a while now. Even when he was playing regularly when Jansen was down..the bat stunk. Kirk is probably better than his line indicates right now, but I don't think hes as good as he showed in 2022 either.
  12. It's a safe choice, not outstanding or risk taking, but it's also not just some simple 3 letters like so many other teams. Predictable to include the leaf but overall, I give it a plus.
  13. Springer has Vlad-itis in that he's garbage against the fastball. As recent as 2022 he murdered them. To me, it looks like he has the same idiotic approach that Vlad has in that he's never ready for the fastball and always looking offspeed causing him to be late
  14. And a near guaranteed double play coming up if it's hit on the ground after IKF if he doesn't advance the runners.
  15. Wasnt generous at all. Remember the TV zone SUCKS at showing the proper upper limit. TV zone is about perfect for inside/outside, but garbage for up/down. Savant has the pitch half a ball inside the strike zone.
  16. Yeah. I highly doubt Shapiro is telling Atkins which players to target and/or trade for. Atkins presents the plans to Shapiro, Shapiro confirms what Atkins process was to arrive at the conclusions he did, and signs off on whatever plan(s) he likes the best. So he's involved, just not.... involved
  17. Jay Jackson DFA by the Twins
  18. Horwitz is Biggio without the defensive versatility or speed.
  19. You're right about the Dodgers and Teo. Just a great situation for him all around to be hitting in a lineup with 3 future hall of Famers and he can just relax and not feel any pressure.
  20. It could be they're waiting too long to start the swing and ending up taking too many rushed swings instead of smooth ones. I'd also like to know which players are the ones bringing it down. I definitely suspect Springer to be towards the bottom of the list. Edit: just looked it up on Savant, Turner has the slowest average bat speed. Vlad has the highest. For all Jays with 100 swings or more only 2 have above MLB average bat speed. Vlad 75.5, Varsho 73.1. Springer is right at about league average 71.2. The three lowest... Turner, Clement, IKF at 65.4, 66.4 and 67.2 respectively Dropping it the 50 swings....still only Vlad and Varsho are above average. Have to take it all the way down to 25 swings as the bar to get Barger on there just behind Vlad and Vogelbach at 71.4
  21. I think it would be a firing for the sake of a firing, but....if they're going to do that it should be the hitting coach first. I don't think JS is the problem here.
  22. Id listen to Siddall all day over the whiney, nasally, complains-about-literally-everything-that-isnt-archaic-baseball style of Buck Martinez. Still great hair though.
  23. Id give Barger more rope for sure. Especially while KK is shelved.
  24. Boggs could play defense too. Horwitz is a nothing burger anywhere on the diamond, which is a big problem for a guy with 10 HR power.
