  1. I just don't trust the integrity of most celebrities. I think it was done for attention and money. If not, then it's fine. He can do whatever he wants either way.
  2. Any guy that f***ed up in a family of people who do stunts like that for attention should ridiculed. You know he'd just be a normal guy if his daughters weren't famous.
  3. We just barely had a top 10 payroll and were very separated from the top 9 teams (closer to 17th place than 9th place). In fact, we had a below average payroll by more than 2 million. Before the deadline deals, we were in the bottom half of team payrolls. Don't act as if we had Steinbrenner era Yankees money or something.
  4. I wonder what happened in that long period when they signed him, then apparently hadn't made an offer, then got him.
  5. Scantron. What a stupid way to evaluate people. I got half of the questions I didn't know just by looking at the prefix or suffix and making an educated guess. Writing it out is the only way to truly test someone's knowledge.
  6. I don't know anything about it, so you're probably right. I found those types the most difficult to learn from in University. They had no idea how to teach a class and it was their first time. Add a bad foreign accent in there and it was hell sometimes.
  7. If anyone disputes this, consider the fact that I've been offered to teach multiple classes on multiple occasions at the local college, but didn't have the time. Meanwhile, qualified teachers on the supply list won't take it because it's contract work for mediocre pay. If they loved teaching, there would be a lot more competition for these jobs. I didn't even feel qualified for it to be honest.
  8. He's been our opening day DH for the past 2 seasons, lol.
  9. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/martinez-to-manage-blue-jays/article770614/ Not if you remember Marty York.
  10. We've all seen many attractive women get jobs without the necessary qualifications. That's certainly not unique to teaching.
  11. Teaching jobs are just as difficult to get in Northern Ontario, even in the small communities and reserves. Most people from here seem to go to South Korea and England from what I've heard.
  12. What type of pitcher wouldn't thrive at O.Co?
  13. Don't you mean the D-Backs?
  14. Oh, the irony.
  15. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-crowd-the-top-82-free-agents/ This isn't perfect, but should give some perspective on your delusional expectations for the free agent market.
  16. With the way we've treated Delabar, I just don't know if the team would go after a guy with yet another season of a 5+ BB/9.
  17. Top bullpen in the league by WAR was the Orioles, here are their 7 most used pitchers: Britton - #17 prospect in baseball, 3 years as failed starter in majors O'Day - Rule V pick, claimed off of waivers twice Brach - Minor trade with Padres Matusz - #5 prospect in baseball, 4 years as failed starter in majors McFarland - Rule V pick Roe - Traded twice, waivers, released 3 times Hunter - Failed starter, traded twice.
  18. Miguel Castro and Steve Delabar were key pieces of the bullpen not long ago. I'm pretty neutral on the trade, but people need to realize that having a good bullpen is mostly luck. Maybe Bo Schultz tweaks his slider and becomes our closer with a sub 2 ERA next year. It's not even that unlikely, the whole thing is a crapshoot.
  19. Name 5 that you could get for less than 10 million.
  20. Northern Ontario. Never saw teachers smoke in the school, but they always would at recess.
  21. I remember one of the teachers would come out during every recess and smoke by the door. We're just so obsessed with 'bullying' now that kids can't even play sports on the playground now without getting into trouble.
  22. They didn't need to be watched in the nineties...
  23. My favourite teacher in grade school didn't put in any time at home. He lectured off the top of his head and marked assignments as we worked. His history and science lectures were especially captivating. I wish more teachers had the intellectual capacity to do that instead of the curriculum regurgitation that we've all had to suffer through. It was just an illusion in most cases, but I could never learn from teachers that I thought I was smarter than.
  24. Theoretically true, yes. I'm not sure how often that type of decision presents itself.
