  1. While that is certainly true, it just seems to me that the amount of variety in music has dropped in recent years. You can find this music if you look for it (the great part of modern music), but I almost never hear people to listen to stuff like Herb Alpert, Booker T and the M.G.'s, or their modern equivalents, just for an example. While instrumental music is not everyone's thing, it was just as popular as the best pop music in it's day. There was a lot more variety. These days, almost every song that gets airplay has the same common elements and I get bored with it. We already people casting aside music from the 2000's in favour of music from previous decades.
  2. My only exposure to pop music is usually at the bar and I find that 90% them sample from 70's/80's songs, are covers of those songs, or pretty much steal the rhythm of them and in a pop beat in the background. I remember a few weeks ago there was a cover of this song and people were going on and on about how the artist was a genius. Then I told them that Hall & Oates wrote it and they neither knew who they were, nor did they believe me. Music is in a sad and unoriginal state right now, but it has always went in cycles. I hope the next golden age comes in my lifetime because I'll appreciate good music from any era. It's just harder to find sometimes.
  3. It's basically a 3 year contract with a couple of player options. If he's good, he will leave and if he's a bust, he will stay. They probably get tremendous value for 3 years, but also take on tremendous risk with no upside for the next 5 years.
  4. Thanks buddy. How you liking last place?
  5. They asked for JP's opinions and he gave, what I thought, was a pretty honest and insightful answer. I'm not sure what people are so upset about. It's not like he ran the team into the ground or anything either.
  6. I'd bet on the Cards winning more than the Cubs. Also throw the Pirates in the conversation for the long-term.

  8. We could have traded a token return for him last week. If we like him at 2 years, we also like him at 1 year I'm sure.
  9. So it turns out we made a 2 year offer to Yusmerio Petit. He obviously didn't want to play here, which is fine. This, however begs the question why we didn't trade some used balls for him at the tender deadline. They knew he was available (Every team knows who will be non-tendered, they aren't stupid) and at a much lower price. We also had flexibility to make a move on the 40 man. Not signing him doesn't bother me, but that should. It reeks of being unprepared and not having a plan.
  10. I just don't see what reason the Giants would have to keep his availability a secret when they intended to cut him loose.
  11. They were free agents and not available through trade. Obviously Petit was made available by the Giants at ~2.4 mil and no one made an offer.
  12. We could have had Petit and his projected 2.4 million arbitration salary from the Giants for a token return. If he gets more than that, it makes our FO look a little stupid and unprepared.
  13. Shapiro is clearly running the show here. Atkins and LaCava are essentially AGM's, who do the legwork and have the ear of Shapiro.
  14. i really don't think that the "talents" of Darwin Barney are any different. To me, this seems like a lack of confidence in the health of Devon Travis.
  15. I don't see him being much better than Delabar.
  16. Why the change of heart?
  17. It's not that hard. http://www.fangraphs.com/statsplits.aspx?playerid=4849&position=P&season=2015
  18. Another question I have is why did they even draft Dansby Swanson in the first place if they place such little value on him? Maybe Miller is a good number 2 starter for 3 years and ~20 mil or whatever. I won't discount that possibility. However, surely a highly thought of number 1 pick is worth somewhere in that ballpark or even more.
  19. Me too. I think Stroman is more valuable than Miller too. Such a weird and stupid trade.
  20. Who would have traded Stroman for Inciarte, Swanson, and Blair?
  21. I would have paid Cahill that amount.
  22. 6, 7 including my own. Sending out PM's tomorrow.
