  1. The foolish notion of non-tendering Revere is getting old. The steamer projection is exceedingly pessimistic, but he's averaged 1.8 WAR over a 5 year span, put up 1.9 last year, and has steady (or improving) underlying numbers. He's also just 27. There will be more than a few teams that see him as a steady performer, who is unlikely to see significant erosion in his skills in 2016, and will therefore value him as such.
  2. I think that David Hernandez could be that impact arm we are looking for, but at a reasonable price.
  3. Now we can have a good starter on a cheap contract AND a good reliever on a cheap contract, provided we sign the right relievers.

  5. People listed in the original post can send me their prospect lists via pm. Others who wish to be involved can post here and we'll consider people on a case by case basis.
  6. He played some shortstop in high school and third base in the majors, but that's all I can find. He's too big to be a middle infielder.
  7. Brandon Moss! Johnson is a fit too though.
  8. I think he's worth it, but I'd like more roster flexibility. Colabello showed above average D at first, so I'm more comfortable with him there now.
  9. Non-tender candidates: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/non-tender-candidates-7.html Lots of interesting guys there. I'd absolutely love to bring in Brandon Moss, he's a great fit for us. Lots of interesting 'pen arms, including guys like Furbush, Alburquerque, Hagadone, and Rzepczynski. Henderson Alvarez too.
  10. I think we would, but I'm not sure the Mets would do that deal either.
  11. It's no problem. I more or less just meant in that one thread.
  12. I've got no issues with this if everyone thinks it's a good idea.
  13. You still follow the minor leagues closely? I recall you making positive contributions in the other lists, for sure.
  14. Doing this list doesn't preclude us from doing the polls. I like doing private lists and seeing the results and so do some others, there's nothing wrong with that. In the past, the list has generated hundreds of posts in discussion if that is the desired effect.
  15. Very well. Thanks for the honesty.
  16. I was under the impression that BTS followed prospects pretty closely. The list is exactly what you sent me with 2 additions.
  17. After some discussion with forum vets, we've decided to do the top prospect this year a little differently this year. We'll return to the way in which I conducted it for several years on the old forum instead of doing an open poll. King did an excellent job the past couple years and contributed a lot to this already, so many thanks to him. So far, we've come up with this list of potential participants: 43211234 Ace Angrioter Cyborg GD Grant King KingKat Krylian Nafro Metafour NJH SirBJay Spanky thehurl I'd like to add 5-10 more participants who know their prospects well and won't dilute the quality of the list. Please confirm your involvement if on the list, or state your case if you are not on the list and are interested. Please DO NOT post your list here or discuss who you think should be on it. This method works because participants are forced to take a hard look at the scouting reports and stats to make their evaluations based on critical thinking. Too often, it's a contest to see who has Player X the highest or lowest and we don't want that. Lists should be 15 players in length and in my experience, should result in a final list of between 20 and 25 players. Participants can send me their lists via PM and I'll compile them when the time comes. Rookie eligibility applies, so Dalton Pompey is not eligible. Thanks for your cooperation and participation.
  18. Yeah, I don't mean to put down your method or anything, as you put a lot of work into it. I just have more confidence in the old method to produce an accurate list.
  19. I preferred the way we used to do it, where we compiled lists from ~20 of of the best prospect junkies. That way we avoided uninformed votes and the individual lists weren't influenced by other people's lists. I think it was some of the best researched Jays material out there. The way it's done with polls now doesn't mean much to me and is just a popularity contest, where many votes are based on comments and trying to be 'first' with a prospect. I'd be willing to compile the list like I did before if people are interested. PM me if you think it's a good idea and we'll think of who should make up the voters.
  20. I'm not sure what's funny. Did you not see Verlander pitch in the second half of the season? I'm a bit of a Tigers fan and watched a number of games. He was absolutely electric, a true ace in every sense of the word. http://www.fangraphs.com/statsd.aspx?playerid=8700&position=P&type=2&gds=2015-07-24&gde=2015-10-03&season= I like Stroman as much as the next guy, but he just missed an entire season and has some questions. I'll put my money on the MVP and possible Hall of Famer who is still throwing about as well as he ever has.
  21. Jonathan Broxton fits the description and the price tag should be much more palatable than comparable options. I don't necessarily think he should be our closer, but the velocity and strong peripherals are appealing.
  22. Why do you say that? The team obviously likes Chavez and Dickey should remain a solid option with a reasonable price tag. He's a solid contributor that is well-liked by his teammates.
  23. Would you consider a reunion with Rzepczynski? Projected for a 3.17 FIP and had an inflated ERA, so he might be cheap. I'd rather not spend big on a third lefty considering we already have 2 pretty solid ones. Jonathan Broxton is a similar option from the right side. He also had an inflated ERA, but still throws 94+ with lots of strikeouts and decent command.
  24. Verlander doesn't suck. He'd probably be the best pitcher on our roster next year.
  25. He isn't exactly going to decline coming to the AL, but the league simply has better players and also the DH. Zimmermann's projected FIP is a pretty fair 3.8 and Happ's is 3.95, using numbers that are similar to what he did in Toronto.
