I don't have any interest in this exercise. I like baseball for the game itself, not for how the players look.

Just because you didn't submit a list doesn't mean that I'm a tyrant. I discussed the criteria for being involved in the prospect rankings with several people before deciding. It wasn't some autocratic decision.

I don't think it will be. The lead amateur scouting guys like Tinnish and Parker are still here and they have had a long run of successful drafts. If Shapiro wasn't impressed with what they have done, they probably wouldn't still be here. I think the most major change is that we will keep most of our prospects instead of trading them.

You look at scouting reports and don't base opinions off of small samples, so you're obviously stupid and uninformed.

I would have never guessed that and it's nice flexibility, but he hasn't played the infield at all since 2012 so it's probably safe to label him as an outfielder.

Sanchez is really pretty great as a reliever. Even those who don't like him can admit that. Enough strikeouts, not many walks, and a ton of groundballs.

I find the fact that Junior Lake is out of options to be interesting. I'm not saying this facilitates a move, but recent decisions make me think that trades involving our outfielders are being discussed.

Going heavy on groundball pitchers it seems. I wonder if the slow turf and infield D has much to do with it.

I was referring to our farm system rank of 20-22. Would we be in the top half with Pompey? While we're on the topic, however, I think that Pompey would be #1 in our system. He's got the physical tools that Alford has, but has also shown that he can hit pitching in the upper minors and the big leagues. That proximity alone makes him our top prospect for me, even if Alford has a bit more potential.

If Pompey had a few less at-bats, where do you think we would rank? He's still a prospect for all intents and purposes, probably a top 50 one at that.

Ever been asked to switch seats with the person behind you because they can't see? I don't mind, but I always find it funny. It's never happened at a Jays game, but at least 10 times at hockey games and other sporting events. -
Very good question. Obviously some of the lower level guys could make a huge jump with a good season. Guadaloupe Chavez, Juan Meza, Travis Bergen, Ryan Borucki, and Angel Perdomo come to mind for guys outside of the top 10. Guys who really need to make an impact this year are little more clear and include Pentecost, Hollon, Jansen, Smith, and Davis. They're all getting a little old and while talented, they haven't performed and need to move up the ladder to remain a part of the big picture.

Anyone who ignores an important aspect of evaluating prospects is going to see worse results than someone who takes a balanced approach and uses all of the available information. That holds true for almost any exercise.

True, but he was 3rd out of these players. Five of them are gone and the other two are Pompey and Sanchez.

Urena ahead of SRF surprises me a bit, but the rest is pretty much in line with what I expected.

I don't know, but it's not a foregone conclusion that he'll leave. Guys with no shot at a big league deal often just want to be next in line on the depth chart.

He still throws 94 apparently, so I guess there is some hope as a reliever. Better than Scott Copeland anyways.

Usually in 100 level baseline. My legs hit the back of the next seat, it's just a fact. I don't expect venues to cater to people that are 3 standard deviations above average height, though. There might only be 5-10 people at a game who have problems, so I usually just get an aisle seat and put my legs there. -

Injury risk is such a nebulous concept, but it seems to me that he's got almost the perfect delivery in terms of keeping him healthy. I may be completely wrong, it's just what I see.

I'm not certain that we're in the bottom 10, but can't say for sure without seeing other lists. White Sox, Angels and Padres are much worse. I'd tentatively throw out the Giants, Orioles, Mariners, Marlins, maybe the Royals. I'm sure I missed a couple. If you count Pompey it's probably middle of the pack.
