    Samardzija NL Cy and Giants win World Series. Then he flops in 2017, makes a miraculous comeback in the 2018 playoffs culminating in the WS MVP and is never heard from again.

    When he plays an essential role in delivering 2 World Series titles, I'll consider it a more important trade. Not that this is a logical opinion, but I was 5 years old and Joe Carter was pretty much my idol for a long time.

    Simply being a average (or better) defensively makes him useful as a backup catcher. He's going to get like 150 at-bats, so you throw a little BABIP luck in there and he hits .280 or something. It won't have a huge impact either way and I'm pretty confident in his defensive abilities.

    Same here. I live next to a large reserve and they all went to my high school, so I have a fair bit of experience. They use it casually, just like African Americans call each other n*ggers. They're not really a minority here, so we rarely refer to race, but I've surely called someone an Indian a few times and never gotten a reaction. The politically correct word 'Aboriginal' is actually the least used term.

    Unless get a fairly substantial discount on some FA years, I would probably go year to year with Donaldson. There's no reason to commit 30+ mil per year for 2019 and beyond.

    I had Syndergaard 12th and didn't rank Pompey, whoops! Also had a lot of good decisions on guys like Norris and Musgrove, but it's amazing how things change.

    That's correct. I'm still working on mine too, just trying to get people into it.

    The Cubs probably rely more on scouting, but suffice to say that teams won't be successful without incorporating both approaches on every evaluation they make. To me, the Cardinals seem to have a player development advantage rather than a stats/scouting one, but I can't put my finger on what it is, if it even exists.

    In my opinion, quality over quantity is a plus in this instance. As I've said, we can still do the polls. The contrast may generate discussion.

    When we did it on the old forum, it was some of the best Jays stuff out there. The list proved to be more accurate than other publications and we provided a bunch of scouting reports. It was a lot of fun. If you think that you can contribute positively to the project, I'd welcome a list.

    Please inform me of an instance where Barry Bonds cheated. Also, since when does arrogance matter? I guess we'd better remove Ty Cobb and Cap Anson from the hall as well.
