  1. I'm concerned about the injury history and I wonder if his size allows him to stay behind the dish, where he has had his problems. I believe in the bat and if he sticks at catcher, he could be legit.
  2. Could be. He's got good stuff, but I'd like to see him in a bigger sample. I had Espada 9th and KingKat had Borucki 8th, just for the record. King did not rank Yorman Rodriguez.
  3. I wish I knew more. He's a catcher, turned 18 during the season. Flashed pretty good power and walked more than he struck out, also stole 12 bases. If he's indeed a decent catcher, those are some impressive numbers. The bat could also play elsewhere if he can keep it up.
  4. With the system depleted a bit, I ended up having Espada as my 9th ranked prospect. His draft pedigree isn't going to do him any favours on lists like this, but I like what he has done in his short time in the system. He put up good numbers at age 18 and had his fastball in the 90-92 range with some further projection. He showed good command and good feel for his breaking pitches, particularly the curveball. I think he might get a shot in short season A next year and could move into everyone's top 10 for the next couple of years.
  5. The top 10 will be released tomorrow. 18-26 can be found here: http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/5895-Forum-Top-Prospects-18-26 11- Jose Espada (Grant77) 12- Ryan Borucki (KingKat) 13- Danny Jansen (43211234, Cyborg, King) 14- Angel Perdomo (TheHurl) 15- D.J. Davis (Ace) 16- Dwight Smith (KingKat) 17- Yorman Rodriguez (TheHurl) I again put the highest voter in brackets if they wish to explain their reasoning.
  6. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I see a nipple"
  7. Sorry if that bothered you. I'd just rather read about baseball in this thread than see pictures of Russ Martin in his underwear (King will post more pics now).
  8. Haha wtf?
  9. Being straight doesn't make me homophobic.
  10. I'd be very surprised if more than one of them spend any significant time there, with Pompey being the most likely. If I had to bet, I'd say none of them spend more than 2 weeks in AAA, rehab stints notwithstanding.
  11. Wow, this thread is ruined....
  12. Brian Dopirak
  13. I had Chad Girodo near the bottom of my list, not because of his upside, but because of his proximity to the majors. Had we a little more depth, he wouldn't have been considered, but the other players I was looking had either taken a step back in 2015 or were in R ball with a real lack of scouting reports. We're seeing more and more sidearmers succeed in relief and I think that Girodo could put up a few WAR before a few of these guys even reach the big leagues. He's shown good control, strikeout stuff, and has generated plenty of groundballs at the high levels. I could see him making an impact in middle relief in 2016, despite a fastball that only reaches 88-90.
  14. A carefully selected panel of forum members have helped to compile a list of the Blue Jays top 26 prospects. Members submitted individual lists of their top 15 players, which I placed in a table using a points system and ranked accordingly. We have done this several times in the past and I think it is some of the best Blue Jays stuff out there. The point of this is certainly not that we are the foremost experts on prospects on this forum. It is that every member of the panel put in a lot of independent thought and research into generating their list. Members of the panel include 43211234, Ace, Cyborg, myself, King, KingKat, Krylian, Nafro, NJH, SirBJay, Spanky, and The Hurl. I'd also like to thank FrenchSoup, JimCanuck, and Pendleton for submitting lists. Your lists will be included on the final document, but not in the final tally. In the end, I liked your lists, but I decided to wait another year to be sure. Prospects 11-17 will be released tomorrow and the top 10 will be released on Wednesday for increased discussion. I included the top voter for each player if they wish to post a little of their thought process. Without further adieu: T18- Juan Meza (KingKat) T18- Guadalupe Chavez (Ace) 20- Shane Dawson (SirBJay) 21- Ryan McBroom (43211234) T22- Mitch Nay (Krylian) T22- Chad Girodo (Grant77) 24- Norberto Obeso (KingKat) T25- Travis Bergen (Ace) T25- Roemon Fields (King)
  15. Do you need my address to mail the trophy to? Same thing was done on the old forum, but I don't remember much of the results. Hurl and I both got multiple best posters and Spanky would clean up with funniest poster. It was a really different crowd in the mid-2000's, however.
  16. Last chance TRM before I get home from work at 4 ET. I'll post the list then.
  17. TRM needs to clear his PM's and hurry though. An unusually high 27 guys were listed this year, probably due to the weaker system. Eight players were unanimous and another 6 were on 2/3 of ballots, but the rest is a free for all.
  18. I didn't receive a list and he didn't request to join, but I'll accept it by tomorrow.
  19. I'm done with the list, but I'll wait to see how everyone wants to proceed.
  20. I sure did. I'm pretty fn drunk now but I'll try to get the list together tomorrow. Hope we can work out a way to release it with king's excellent polls.
  21. Sanchez has held batters to a .176 /.245/.222 line as a reliever. Add in some BABIP luck if you wish, but those are absolutely excellent numbers that would play well as a high leverage reliever on any team. He was also virtually flawless in the playoffs (Martin-Choo debacle notwithstanding). Although I understand why and agree that he should be a starter, there's no reason why you shouldn't be confident in his abilities as a relief pitcher.
  22. Yeah, there's a lot of scenarios where he goes to the 'pen. I hope he wins a job, though.
  23. Same. My years as best poster required too much being nice to people and putting in effort. I don't care anymore.
  24. It's extremely likely that he'll come into ST as a starter. Shapiro all but said he would. I don't think he's one to waste young pitchers in the 'pen when they are viable SP options. He's a man who knows how to maximize the value of young pitchers, if nothing else. For those who don't think he likes pitchers like Sanchez, look how long he kept Jake Westbrook.
  25. The logic of demoting a pitcher with a 1.69 ERA and dynamite peripherals in 2 seasons as a reliever eludes me. If you want to use him as a starter then he has nothing to learn in the minor leagues. He is what he is and adjustments can probably be made more effectively at the big league level.
