  1. You misunderstood what I meant. Wright has been their only good starter so far from a results perspective. I'm sure Price will allow fewer runs sooner rather than later.
  2. I'm not surprised, but it's just a different way of looking at it I guess. For all of the hype about the Orioles offense, they have the same RS/RA numbers as us. Non Tillman/Gausman starters have an ERA of 6. Price has solid peripherals, but his results are below average thusfar, leaving Wright as their only good starter. We've seen it in the past with the Jays, bad pitching and D will catch up to you no matter how many runs are scored.
  3. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=sta&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2016&month=0&season1=2016&ind=0&team=3&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=15,d Still shocked?
  4. I would agree, but they are doing this on the assumption that we can use him in the playoffs.
  5. Better than I'll feel when he misses 2017 with TJS.
  6. Regarding Chavez, a lot of it depends on how the rest of the bullpen is doing. If we're still relying on him as the primary setup man, then it could be difficult to stretch him out.
  7. You can debate this to no end, but one point isn't up for debate. Our front office is convinced that this will be good for Sanchez's long term health.
  8. Just found out how Buck Showalter got his first name. I threw up a little.
  9. It's hard to put much stock into a projection system that has the Royals and Twins as comparable teams going forward. Same for the White Sox and Rangers.
  10. I don't know if I agree. Chance Sisco and a couple of lower level guys probably get you in the conversation on most of the available pitchers. There's always Hunter Harvey too if they want to make a Sonny Gray type splash.
  11. I would look to extend Donaldson, even if we opt for a short rebuild. We're looking at least 7 years, so he fits into our long term outlook and provides a lot of stability.
  12. I think if JB and EE aren't resigned or replaced with similar players then we have to seriously consider dealing off some short term assets like Estrada in the offseason. The contention window is clearly still open with a lot of the current team returning, but either you go for it or make a clear effort to reload for a couple of seasons.
  13. The simple truth is that we probably won't contend for a playoff spot without JB and EE. I'll be pretty upset if Shapiro makes us a middling 80 win team again with no clear plan, but I have faith in him for now.
  14. Herrera is such a bonehead.
  15. Id like a little hit and run here with Goins
  16. Good luck with that...
  17. My statistically supported argument was that he had already shown the skills of a back end starter and that the ground balls would play well with the best infield D in the league. Guys in the past had succeeded with 60% ground balls and rather crappy K/Bb numbers. People were so hung up on a tiny FIP sample that they weren't being logical at all. I thought he had a decent shot to improve his command and be a nice innings eater due to his age, but this performance is far more than I expected. I'm very very impressed.
  18. I'd take on his contract and throw him in the bullpen if all they want is a bag of balls. Some of this stuff comes from Ned Yost, I think we could calm him down a bit with Gibby.
  19. Sanchez leads the league with a 3.18 GB/FB, with Jaime Garcia at 2.97 and the rest of the league way behind that (Stroman 3rd).
  20. Tacet is a musical term, but I think he means tercet.
  21. Just heard a quote on the radio that I like. He had just won a gold medal and goes to the diner in his home town of Louisville. He asks for a coffee and a hot dog and the waitress says "we don't serve negroes here." He responds "That's ok, I don't eat them either, just get me a coffee."
