  1. I expect Bautista to appeal his suspension and win. That isn't a suspendable play and it sets a bad precedent.
  2. What does that have to do with suspending someone for a common play that has never resulted in a suspension?
  3. Most likely and it's total B.S. Matt Bush played a larger role in instigating the altercation on a more dangerous play and there's nothing. I'm noticing a pattern in the last few incidents, including the Royals one last year, and I don't think the league is handling it correctly. Everyone on the planet, including MLB, knows that this was started by Jeff Bannister and/or Matt Bush. Other incidents are just as obvious. Still, MLB always punishes the team with integrity that doesn't start s*** and let's the slimeball cowards get away with nothing. Perhaps we should just throw at the head of Odor in the first inning next time we play and let them retaliate.
  4. There is no precedent, but suspending Bautista for breaking up a DP sure sets one for everyone else in the future. All Utley rule violations deserve a suspension if this one does. His feet were down, he was over the bag, he didn't hit the fielder. It wasn't particularly bad compared to other violations this year.
  5. I'm not commenting on Odor's intent, but Jose started his slide well before the bag and was in sliding position when the ball almost hit his face. Let's not make this out to be Hal McCrae 2.0. He probably could have made it a legal slide had he reached back and grabbed the bag.
  6. The slide was at least a baseball play. You can't debate that if Ruben Tejada doesn't get hurt last year, nobody even brings this up. The Odor reaction is like someone charging the mound in my opinion. It is someone choosing to fight after an aggressive play within the game. I think the onus for all of this falls on Jeff Bannister. He's a coward for waiting until the last at-bats to retaliate and he's a coward for using Matt Bush in that situation. Odor responded with a mistake in the heat of the moment, I may have done the same. Bannister had time to think about it and mapped this out. He's a cowardly piece of s*** that I will never respect. We can bitch about Gibbons' on field moves, but at least he has some integrity and respect for the game.
  7. I never said that Jose Reyes didn't do anything. His alleged actions are very serious. What I object to is dumbasses like Kingkat taking things further and basically making up stuff about him.
  8. Why not? It worked for Mariano Rivera. All kidding aside, it's a huge advantage when you don't have to show your offspeed stuff until the third time through the order.
  9. The fact that you object to my statement shows that you suspect he may be threatening her. You wouldn't bring it up otherwise. I just don't think it's right to make unsubstantiated claims. You're engaging in libel and taking cheap shots at him. 'Kingkat could be a serial killer. I have no evidence, so I won't assume either way. I'll just make the accusation in a roundabout way so I can backpedal when I'm called out for being a dumbass.'
  10. You obviously have to judge it on a case by case basis. Maybe she got drunk and pushed me into the door and the neighbour called. Now she's going to AA and I want to help. All I'm saying is that we should respect the rights of the victim if there are no obvious suspicions of threats or future violence.
  11. Why would you just throw a criminal threatening charge out there when there is no reason to do so? There hasn't been the slightest hint of those sorts of actions from Jose Reyes. Maybe he's involved in the Panama papers too, but it's unfair to assign additional unrelated crimes to a person for no apparent reason.
  12. I like to put myself in the woman's shoes. If my wife got mad at me in an argument and hit me, I wouldn't want her to go to jail and have my children grow up without a mother. I'd probably prefer to deal with it in another way (counselling, separation, etc.). Of course, this is just what I would do and if people want to press charges then so be it, but I'm sure some others (maybe even Mrs. Reyes) share my opinion. Ignoring the wishes of the victim and punishing her as well does nothing to advance justice in my opinion.
  13. That's exactly what I said. She made a decision of her own accord not to press charges. This could be for any number of reasons, including helping her children and family. She shouldn't be the one being punished in that incident. You clearly insinuated that she was dropping the charges because of threats. That isn't the same thing. It's an entirely more complicated and serious allegation.
  14. One thing I'm not clear on is when the suspension starts. If he gets a 60 game suspension, can he start playing in June?
  15. There is no court case because there was no crime from a legal perspective. This is strictly about MLB's image.
  16. Use Occam's razor. There was an incident, there may or may not have been physical contact. She got upset and called the police. She then thought it over and requested that the charges be dropped for her own personal reasons. That seems a lot more reasonable that some complex web of threats and blackmail. It's pretty much a conspiracy theory.
  17. Common sense. The alleged victim is claiming that a crime did not occur and it reasonable to assume that she isn't being threatened or blackmailed into making that claim. It's really ironic that this whole policy is about respecting the rights of women and MLB is openly ignoring her rights and wishes in this witch hunt.
  18. MLB owes it to their fans to follow up on their repeated promises to ensure competitive balance in regards to amateur players. The red Sox made it really obvious and if there is solid evidence then an example should be set. This practice CLEARLY violates the spirit of the rules. I don't think there is any debate on that point.
  19. http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/mlb-investigates-red-sox-over-international-signings/#U5P8rRk1Kczq0UuK.97 With all of the effort that MLB puts into ensuring competitive balance, I'd hope that they come down hard on Boston if these allegations are confirmed. A total ban on signings for 1-2 more years would be appropriate in my opinion. A soft response would just encourage other teams to start or continue doing package deals.
  20. It is acceptable if you don't give up any hard hit balls, though not ideal.
  21. That would be very disappointing. We can't even be sure that he did anything wrong and MLB won't know either because his wife isn't cooperating. Basically we have the only two witnesses saying that nothing happened and a bunch of reactionary idiots forcing MLB's hand. I support punishment when there is reasonable grounds to do so, but since there clearly isn't in this case, I feel bad for Jose Reyes and his wife.
  22. Of course Donaldson read it perfectly, Buck. There are two outs!
  23. We'd probably have the exact same record. He's hitting .318 with average D and a SB, just fine for a backup OF.
  24. I'm willing to give it more time. To me it seems like a pitch selection issue and not a loss of strikeout stuff.
  25. My 2 cents on the issue is that he's taking advantage of the top infield defense in the league. I don't see why it's such a problem for people. He can pull out the K stuff when he needs it, the skills are still there.
