  1. Not necessarily. A lot of people were concerned about the strikeouts before he made his debut. I can't say I was one of them, but I did identify early on that Gose would never be a quality major leaguer by learning from mistakes like that.
  2. In fairness to Brownie, Urena is just 9 months older and has a better wRC+ at the same level.
  3. Both teams. Beltran isn't right for us.
  4. Torres is hardly blocked right now. His ETA is probably late 2018 or 2019 if all goes well.
  5. I'd look at promoting Pentecost to Dunedin. He's a little older and needs to be challenged more in my opinion.
  6. What do you think, a 2/7 extension?
  7. I don't think we can make a deal without Sanchez, even then it's iffy. Is Sanchez + SRF + Harris + Pompey or whatever even good for us? Maybe if we had more depth.
  8. Lots of grounders getting through I would guess, nothing to worry about. Infield D can be pretty sketchy at that level, so just focus on K/BB and GB% for now.
  9. Would SRF+ Alford + Tellez + Vlad even get them talking? It would probably take Sanchez.
  10. No worries Spanky. I've seen you agree with that in the past. It's pretty common knowledge, especially for long time Jays fans like ourselves who have seen it happen in the blink of an eye.
  11. Meaning what? We're discussing trade targets, not theoretical physics. Everyone claims that this is a great place to learn about baseball, but when you try to pass on some experiences to someone who clearly doesn't understand a concept then you get roasted for it. Pitching depth can evaporate quickly in a pennant race and it's important to get what you can. I'll stand by that fact, history backs me up 100%.
  12. You've watched the Jays long enough to know that we should always take the opportunity to grab pitching if we can. We've been very lucky with pitching health so far.
  13. Pitching injuries are unlikely to happen. I learned something new today.
  14. R.A. is going to have more 'hits' than the Mariners if this keeps up.
  15. Cyborg's comments on this forum make it clear he's an intelligent guy, but hasn't had much experience with baseball. Lots of obvious stuff eludes him. The pitching thing is something you learn over time. Six starters is nothing if you have no depth. You bring up a great recent example.
  16. I think we need pitching depth more than we need depth at 1B/RF. If we eventually need help at those positions, history has shown that we can acquire that cheaply in August (ex. Napoli, Utley, Venable last year). We also have suitable bench options in Lake and Bello. Things don't look so good if we see a pitching injury or two. I don't like our depth at Buffalo and decent SP's rarely get dealt after the non waiver deadline.
  17. I don't think you understand what I said.
  18. I always thought Donaldson would be our emergency backstop. Too much injury risk I suppose.
  19. Let's do this Tulo, nice hitters count.
  20. His second half ERA's have been outstanding for several years now. It was 2.80 last year.
  21. Soft liners that are dropped are often called errors. Donaldson himself would tell you that's a routine play if he sees it.
  22. Such a nasty knuckler today. Looks like R.A. is in his second half ace-like form.
