  1. I hesitate to call Pardinho and Warmoth a 'new legit guy' when they are an elite international prospect and first round pick, respectively. It's also playing it a little safe to call someone a bust when they aren't even a top 10 prospect. Sleeper: TJ Zeuch Bust: Ryan Borucki New legit guy: Riley Adams
  2. From MLBTR: "The Dodgers have claimed righty Alec Asher off waivers from the Dodgers, per a club announcement." Haha!
  3. I'll give the Padres a slight edge over the Reds. Detroit and KC are playing each other.
  4. By refusing to sign an extension, he's making it clear to the Orioles that they should trade him. There's no need to make a demand.
  5. I'm not sure what scientific value this has, but I always found gender studies on lower primates rather interesting. It seems that our close relatives have gender roles hardwired into their DNA. That doesn't prove that we are the same, but it's a solid assumption.
  6. Granderson has been through enough opening days that he shouldn't have jitters.
  7. https://www.thestar.com/amp/news/investigations/2018/03/29/jays-get-a-cut-from-online-scalpers.html
  8. Give me Grichuk over Hernandez all day long. The bat projects to be similar and he's nowhere near as good in the field.
  9. The Phillies have signed second base prospect Scott Kingery to a six-year contract through the 2023 campaign, according to a team announcement. It’s worth $24MM in guarantees, Jon Heyman of FanRag tweets. The pact also features club options for the 2024, ’25 and ’26 seasons, meaning it could cancel out three of Kingery’s free-agent years. Those options are worth $13MM, $14MM and $15MM. I'm not sure if I like this for the Phillies. It's a fair bit of risk for someone who certainly isn't a can't miss prospect. They could have waited a year and done this.
  10. I think Vlad would definitely be better than Morales. Tulo when he is playing might be better than Bichette, as I don't think he's ready on D.
  11. Grichuk with a 70 hit would be a pretty special player. Mookie Betts with more power.
  12. Jays win 88 WC: Jays beat Twins ALDS: Indians beat Jays ALDS: Yankees beat Astros ALCS: Indians beat Yankees WC: Giants beat Cubs NLDS: Dodgers beat Giants NLDS: Cardinals beat Nationals NLCS: Dodgers beat Cardinals WC: Indians beat Dodgers
  13. I'd like to add a vet for AAA like Brett Anderson, Jeremy Hellickson, or Jeff Locke.
  14. Samad Taylor ranked 12 with a B- grade is mildly surprising and encouraging.
  15. Mayza is far from a finished product and the ability to put him in AAA is a huge bonus for us. We should and will prioritize the guys with no options in an effort to preserve our depth. Atkins is too smart to do what you suggest.
  16. I'm very pleased with the depth being built in the bullpen. Give Axford and Clippard a shot in April, see what we have. It does no harm to have Mayza, Ramirez, Guerrieri, Biagini, etc. in the minors to start the year.
  17. I got 6, most of whom played for the big league club. Some of the others I barely recognize. M.M. from Colorado J.S. from Seattle N.R. from Baltimore P.V. from Oakland C.C. from Minnesota A.D. from Detroit
  18. Hyperbole aside, Sportsnet indicates that his projected return date is probably somewhere around opening day. Whether or not he makes that a reality remains to be seen.
  19. Last I read, opening day was still a possibility for Tulowitzki.
  20. I expect the decision to come down to Hernandez or Diaz. A lot of it depends on the health of Travis and Tulo.
  21. That was a clear mistake right from the start. Very puzzling move.
  22. So the JD Martinez deal is actually a 2 year deal with 3 consecutive player options. Still a good deal for Boston, but at least he will leave or get paid more after 2 years if he hits well.
  23. Reminiscent of the Joe Smith signing last year and could certainly yield similar results. Sign Trevor Cahill to a similar deal and I'll be happy with the offseason bullpen work.
  24. I wouldn't hate bringing back Brett Anderson or a guy like Trevor Cahill to compete for the long man spot if Biagini is indeed starting in AAA.
  25. Blue Jays baseball just won't be the same without Jerry Howarth. He was certainly the best in the business on the radio side and I will miss his calls.
