Agreed on Jansen/McGuire. I don't know if the Indians would deal Quantrill for Manoah though. At the very least it would be close. He was a higher ranked prospect and just hasn't been utilized properly by the Padres. The elite stuff is still there for him.
I think it's a great return for the Indians. Naylor, Hedges, and Quantrill can contribute in areas of need right away and they also got 3 high quality prospects.
I'd be willing to bet that they absolutely love Quantrill and placed a high value on him. He could be the next breakout starter on the Indians.
We're kind of basing opinions on a price that we don't know, but I don't imagine the Angel's would be letting Bubdy go for cheap. They still want to contend next year as well. I'm thinking Minor goes for salary relief and a lottery ticket, but if that's not the case then I would pass on him as well.
I'm perfectly happy of the team takes that kind of gamble. If you get a few 6IP, 3 ER starts from Minor and have a lefty in the 'pen for the playoffs then so be it. If he's more like the 2019 version then that's a huge win. I don't think we should be trading our top prospects right now.
I think Minor does move the needle. He's coming off of a season over 4 WAR with Cy Young votes. We grab a few cheap starts from him and then we have another solid lefty in the bullpen for the playoffs. I think it's a big win if we get him for cheap.
All of those free agent pitchers and Realmuto will still be there in the offseason whether we have Lance Lynn or not.
In a hypothetical scenario where we trade Gurriel, should we grab another outfielder? Villar and Goodwin have been mentioned, with Bradley Jr and Pillar also available.
Pretty much none. I could see Max Stassi (Angels), Pedro Severino (Orioles), or Austin Hedges (Padres) being available if you consider any of them improvements.
I'm shocked by the haul for Austin Nola. It's more than double what I would have expected the Mariners to get.
I wouldn't hate grabbing Austin Hedges now that they have like 4 catchers. Then we could offer McGuire for Mike Minor and not lose a whole lot.
What do you guys think of Eduardo Escobar as a trade target? The Diamondbacks are starting to look like sellers and may want to move on from his contract and see what they have with Kevin Cron at 3B.
Escobar is off to a terrible start, but the salary is reasonable and his underlying stats look decent.
The odds look good. Hopefully Atkins can improve them by adding an infield bat and perhaps another arm. Prices seem pretty reasonable for buyers so far.
I'm just not buying that Seager is a new player this year, despite the hot start in 2020. I think that the downward trajectory we've seen for a few years from Seager will continue through the next two and a half seasons. That's just my opinion.
I'd prefer to get a cheap option to supplement Shaw (Maikel Franco?). Then we can see what the market is in the offseason and reevaluate. Seager will probably still be available at that point.
Seager's production tailed off considerably shortly after he signed that big contract. They are probably eager to cash in when his value is at it's highest. I wouldn't give up anything for him unless they eat the contract down to at least 12 million for both years. That contract has negative value in my opinion.
I just wish that the players would choose a better moment to do this kind of protest and I would fully support it. An injury to a sex offender and domestic abuser who ignored police and went for a weapon isn't going to draw in a lot of sympathy. I frankly don't care what happens to pieces of s*** like that.
There have far worse incidents this year which would garner more support and do more good, but they pass by without acknowledgement.
