  1. Any team that hires him is validating that kind of behaviour and looking to benefit from it. Any future success he has is going to come with a massive asterisk.
  2. Cleveland was rumoured to be interested in LGJ when we were discussing Clevinger. A major league outfielder is probably very interesting to them.
  3. Scummy move on our part if true. We shouldn't have people like him in the organization.
  4. The red sox are easily the most unethical and disgraceful organizations in sports.
  5. The Mets signed 6 free agents yesterday.
  6. If he's as good as you say then he will opt out, no question. If he sucks then we gave up assets and are stuck with a bad contract. Picking up Arenado is a lose-lose for us unless he costs very little.
  7. Can you not read or do you just not understand what an opt out is? He's basically on a one year deal with a big player option that will be turned down if he is good if that makes it more clear.
  8. A whole bunch of teams want Lindor because he is an amazing player. One might call that leverage.
  9. That's something for the front office to decide, but if they are confident then you could go for a guy like La Stella at 5-8 million as a backup plan instead of spending big on a more high profile addition.
  10. More importantly, you could use the money earmarked for a 3B upgrade and spend it on another need like CF or pitching.
  11. I can't say whether those prospects will turn out, but it's an awfully big risk to take for a single season of Arenado.
  12. Opt outs complicate this scenario considerably.
  13. I'm ok with trades, but not ok with holding steady. There are extremely obvious areas for upgrade at 3B and SP. It doesn't have to be a star, but I'll be very unhappy if they don't take serious steps to address our weaknesses.
  14. I'd argue that the first round pick and the cost for Bryant may not be that different. You would also get an additional first round pick when Bryant leaves.
  15. Are you against all major signings? Getting a guy like Springer or Bauer would lead to the same situation.
  16. I brought this up during the playoffs, but we never really discussed it. How much would you give for Kris Bryant? Would you take him at all for that price? If Shapiro believes in him, I wouldn't hate giving up a decent prospect like Moreno and exploring an extension.
  17. I'll take LeMahieu at 3/54, Hand at 2/16, and Walker at 1/8 from that list. I'm not really opposed to any of the top 3 at that price either, but wouldn't blow the entire budget on one player if that's all we have.
  18. I'm trying to think of someone since Jose Cruz Jr and can't come up with a name unless you want to count Jose Reyes.
  19. Yes please for LaMahieu. He's an absolutely excellent fit and we could conceivably run out a top 5 offense with him. Biggio LeMahieu Bichette Hernandez Guerrero Gurriel Tellez Grichuk Jansen Two of the best OBP guys in the game, followed by 6 consecutive players projected for 20+ home runs would be so amazing.
  20. Beeston got us on the right track in the first place with a major increase in payroll and playoff appearances after we stagnated for so long under Godfrey. He had his flaws, but I'll always appreciate that.
  21. The Mets gave Stroman the 18.9 million dollar qualifying offer. That surprises me, I bet he accepts.
  22. Perhaps. 20 million might get you Tanaka and Paxton for all we know right now. The market looks screwy.
  23. Sign me up for that if he'll take a pro-rated 15 million.
  24. Yes you can.i believe we did it with Chase Anderson last season.
  25. I like Springer, but I think the FO will go after Ozuna ahead of him. There will be no pick attached and his batted ball profile lines up more with what they like.
