  1. It depends what you consider major and what we do via trade I guess. I'm interested in free agents like Bradley, Kim, and Paxton. Then there's guys like Bryant and Lindor on the trade market. This offseason is a probably a success for me if we upgrade at CF, 3B, and SP, with at least one being a star player. If we don't then it's probably a failure.
  2. Perhaps not, but striking out over 40% of the time is concerning. He's certainly not the only example of a high level hitting prospect that hasn't panned out for the Mariners. Dustin Ackley, Nick Franklin, Jesus Montero, Mike Zunino, DJ Peterson, Alex Jackson. I'm probably missing someone, but Ketel Marte might be their biggest success of the last decade and they traded him.
  3. #6 "The 2010 Mariners are not a great team. It’s pretty easy to look at the roster and find problems" "The Mariners farm system isn’t among baseball’s best"
  4. I have a wait and see attitude regarding the Mariners. We've seen them struggle to develop hitters for a long time and that is the strength of their farm system. Evan White's season didn't inspire much confidence.
  5. Are the Angels really worse than the Mariners? Seattle hasn't even made the playoffs since the Angels won the World Series in 2002. They have 18 and 19 year playoff droughts in a franchise that has only existed for 44 seasons. They have never made the playoffs in a division with more than 4 teams, which is insane.
  6. 14/20 for me. Sinkers were giving me trouble as well.
  7. Good in comparison to what? Those contracts would have been market value in last year's market, maybe even an overpay. Howie Kendrick and Edwin Encarnacion were both coming off of better seasons and got 1/6 and 1/12, respectively. They are reasonably good comps for age and defensive value.
  8. I don't really like that for the Royals, nor do I like the Minor deal. They probably should have been more patient and waited for deals.
  9. I'm not to be upset if they open the season with guys like Michael King and Jonathan Loaisiga in their rotation.
  10. I don't see much upside there, but he's certainly an upgrade over Mazara.
  11. We obviously like Kim if we're sending Ryu to recruit him. I doubt we'll see any movement on a Lindor trade until Kim's situation is resolved.
  12. Kay before this season probably had similar value, but he struggled out of the bullpen.
  13. Dunning looked decent this year, but I'm surprised that Texas couldn't do any better.
  14. The Indians are going to move Lindor for the best deal available. Does that mean they will take very little? Your logic is extremely flawed. Everything in my statement was absolutely correct with the benefit of hindsight.
  15. The guesses in that thread as to what we gave up were remarkably close. I said said someone a bit outside of our top 10, which was right, and a lot of people agreed with that. I didn't necessarily like the trade, but repeating the opinion of the vast majority of us and pretending that you are smarter now is kind of funny.
  16. Getting something for a player that they probably would have non-tendered by the looks of it. They must be in quite a financial crunch.
  17. Everyone said the Dodgers were getting a good prospect, so your opinion wasn't exactly unique.
  18. I don't really care what they do as long as extra innings go back to normal and stay that way. The DH will come eventually if we are patient.
  19. A dumb website for you guys to play with: https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trade-simulator/
  20. I fully expect to see Jansen hit cleanup at some point.
  21. Lindor Biggio Springer Hernandez Bichette Guerrero Jr Tellez Grichuk Jansen That's an awfully nice looking lineup, however you order it.
  22. I wouldn't mind grabbing Segura either if we can't get Lindor and it reduces the prospect cost.
  23. I would probably go with Springer. A 5 year deal for a catcher in his 30's scares me. However, if Jansen is a big piece in a trade for another star then you could change my mind.
  24. I think Zeuch would be better served working on his curveball, which has looked pretty good at times. He doesn't need to K guys at a high level to be effective, but a good out pitch would keep hitters off of his fastball. The 2 seam is excellent, but hitters sit on it. I don't know if added velocity would do a lot for him either. We often see pitchers like Zeuch become more effective in later innings when they lose some velocity.
  25. Goodnight troll. I enjoyed you attempting to refute facts and statistics with hyperbole and word games. Your miserable failure was highly entertaining and serves as yet another of the dozens of examples of your incredible level of stupidity.
