Nobody said that he would put up a 60% mark in the majors, so quit trying to mislead people. He put up about a 56% mark in the upper minors and 53% in an extremely small major league sample. He'll likely sit in that range, which would be firmly in the elite category for that particular stat.

Groundballs find their way into gloves a lot. That's why a guy like Jake Westbrook can start almost 300 games in the big leagues with a K/9 under 5. We'll see what happens with Zeuch, but you just don't see many starters putting up groundball rates over 60 in the minors. It's an overlooked and valuable skill, even moreso in the launch angle revolution. It's clear that the FO sees something in him. Atkins brings up his name all of the time.

This is hilariously uninformed. We're going to use a 34 inning sample over 5 years of minor league data and scouting reports saying he has good command? Fangraphs already lists his command as above average on their 20-80 scale and there is more potential on top of that. We often see very tall pitchers take a bit longer to harness their command. I think it was clear that Zeuch wasn't being compared to Cy Young level Keuchel, but the current version that is still very effective with poor K numbers. You just have no relevant points to make so you resort to hyperbole. As for the groundball rate, you are attempting to mislead once again. A groundball rate in the middle 50s is indeed an extremely high mark for a starting pitcher. There have been an average of 2 such pitchers per season over the last 5 years.

Zeuch's extreme groundball tendencies and good command give him a shot to be a useful starter. There are plenty of guys like Dallas Keuchel that succeed with mediocre K numbers. Mike Leake isn't exactly a sexy comp, but averaged over 2 WAR for 6 years. This same front office rolled with Jake Westbrook and his sub 5 K/9 for 9 years. They obviously see some value in a pitcher like that, even more now that the home run has become so prevalent and shifts have reduced the value of ground balls.

I think you could be right, but Rosario has a better wRC+ over the last 4 years, including a 20 point margin last year. He's also a better baserunner and fielder.

Jays rumoured to be in on Jean Segura. I like this if we can deal something like Roark and a prospect, but I think his contract has negative value.

If Eddie Rosario has no value then Schwarber probably has even less. It's not surprising in light of the former being cut.

Eddie Rosario is up for grabs. We don't have the need, but some team should be all over a possible 3 win player at that price.

I know we've been linked to Hand and others, but I am not expecting us to make a big play for relievers. I think we'll dabble in the market for non-tender candidates like we did with Bass last year and maybe take a flier on a guy like Kirby Yates. Atkins has had success building a cheap bullpen and probably won't change his formula too much.

That may be true for you, but a lot of people like myself don't have a specific budget for vacations or a set number of events that I go to. If I miss my yearly Blue Jays game, I probably won't spend the money in the same way. There's a good chance I just put a bigger payment on my mortgage or something.

Six million compared to 18 million is a difference. Use whatever words you deem appropriate, but it's enough to get a good bat in this market.

Nowhere did I say we shouldn't add any depth. As I have already stated clearly, I think a substantial 2 year deal for a guy like Quintana could hurt the development of our young pitchers and prevent us from addressing other needs. I'm not interested in your free agent predictions. A modest 1 year deal allows us to move on if a guy like Kay or Murphy needs a spot. It also leaves us enough money to spend on a CF or infielder.

MLBTR projects a 2/18 deal for Quintana and 2/16 for Richards. That's a whole lot different than giving Happ one year of reliever money. It doesn't block anyone or prevent us from spending elsewhere.

I see no reason to write off Happ as a possibility. A useful starter that we are familiar with on a 1 year deal sounds pretty good actually. Obviously there needs to be bigger additions, but too much depth isn't something to complain about.

Gregg Popovich sure knows how to exploit his defense. The Spurs constantly run plays against Harden with a lot of success, especially in the playoffs.
