  1. Agreed. If Gausman gets ahead, that splitter is going to be devastating. They have the same hitting philosophy as the Yankees, but with a lot less power and contact ability. There's no need to change anything very much.
  2. I see the rotation going as: Woo/Miller Castillo/Woo Kirby Gilbert Woo battled through 7 innings against us in April. We got a lot of runners on and he couldn't get much swing and miss, but we could only cash 2 runs. We put Gilbert through the Jays treatment and made him throw 100+ pitches in 4 innings. Castillo in 2 starts and Miller were crushed by the Jays bats. This was all before our hitting renaissance.
  3. This is a really, really good matchup for us on paper, especially with their pitching a bit of a mess. There's a lot of positives for us to consider going into Sunday. That Mariners defense is absolutely horrendous, ranking 26th as per fangraphs. That's a match made in heaven for our contact oriented approach. Suarez, Crawford, and Polanco are amongst the worst fielders at their respective positions. Their bullpen is really, really thin and really, really tired. Munoz pitched a ton and looked shaky in his second inning. The lineup looks as awful as it ever has. If we can pitch around Raleigh then there's a lot of free outs for JS to manoeuver his bullpen and put the guys in good spots. They actually started Mitch Garver and Victor Robles in a playoff game. Those guys wouldn't even make our roster. I felt a lot less confident against the Tigers, who have a deeper lineup and solid defense. That being said, their rotation looked really troubling with Flaherty being used. It's really a toss-up.
  4. Can't help but feel good for the fans of the least successful franchise in the history of baseball. They've been through a lot. Bring on Bryce Miller and whatever else they can cobble together.
  5. I don't bet much but I'm betting on the Tigers if they get out of this somehow.
  6. Come on Carpenter, hit one out.
  7. Nothing is more gratifying than watching an all-time classic from start to finish. You remember them forever.
  8. The Mariners recently lost an 18 inning game at home.
  9. That's karma. They were absolutely f***ed by the umpires on 2 and maybe even 3 blown calls.
  10. What A Game !!!!!!
  11. Was that actually a foul ball?
  12. The umps are doing everything they can to hand the Mariners the game on a silver platter. As a fairly neutral observer, that's absolutely disgraceful.
  13. That's one of the most outrageously incorrect calls we've ever seen. Poor Tigers. Two absolutely f***ing egregious mistakes.
  14. If this is a hit batter then I don't understand baseball rules.
  15. That's a swing, must be a strike.
  16. No strike being called on that 0-2 pitch could be one of the most impactful call of the season.
  17. Wilson really doesn't trust his relievers. This certainly burns Gilbert for a couple of days. Kirby would be slated for G3 so their best pitcher in Gilbert probably only gets one start in a possible ALCS appearance.
  18. I should have said he was average, as he had a late season surge to bring him to an almost neutral DRS, but the point still stands. People make him out like he's GG calibre when he's certainly not.
  19. With this Mariners lineup, you essentially just walk Raleigh and get 2 free innings.
  20. He had a negative DRS for most of the season. I get what you're saying, but I believe in the facts more than the rhetoric. Jeter was seen as a good SS in his day as well, due to his bat.
  21. Raleigh blowing their season on a passed ball would be ironic. He's bad defensively, but they make it out like he's a gold glover.
  22. Most teams would bunt there, but they strike out a f*** ton so I kind of get it.
  23. Big opportunity for the Tigers here. The weak bottom half of the Mariners lineup probably gives you a couple more innings.
  24. Seattle in my opinion. We smoked them this year and their defense may be the worst in MLB, certainly the worst in the playoffs by a huge margin. That's the kind of thing out offense will exploit.
  25. I don't know if I've seen someone mismanage his bullpen as badly as AJ Hinch in this game.
