  1. The 2/8 deal screamed howtown discount to me.
  2. I'm sorry that you wasted so much time responding to something that was never said. Creating false statements and responding to them as if the other person actually said those things is extremely cowardly. At least Olerud does this in an openly trolling manner. It's fortunate that others on this forum don't have to deal with dishonest scumbags like you in real life.
  3. No comment was made by me on Grichuk's baserunning ability. As pointed out by Laika above, sprint speed is not exactly a useful measure of baserunning ability to begin with. It should be expected that players of similar height and ageshave a similar sprint speed and they do. That it is not very useful as a metric should be rather intuitive considering that the game is based on short bursts of speed over distances as little as 60 feet, when considering secondary leads.
  4. Your premise is that I don't believe that BsR statistics are accurate? I guess you have to come up with some sort of lie to create your fanciful stories, but that was never said and certainly isn't true. Tapia is extremely fast and that is borne out in the numbers.
  5. I guess I should have elaborated instead of simply bolding the misinformation in your quote. Tapia is a very fast and very bad baserunner, much like Jonathan Villar, who also has a positive BsR. I didn't compare him to Grichuk or suggest that he wasn't more valuable in that regard. He's going to be used in pinch running situations here and you will see a boneheaded runner that makes some spectacular plays along with getting picked off at inopportune times and running into outs. He's done one of those things almost every time I watch and he's absolutely notorious for it in Colorado.
  6. That couldn't be more false from what I have seen. Tapia is worse than Jonathan Villar on the base paths. Very fast, but also very stupid.
  7. I wasn't necessarily basing his lack of ability to play CF on the arm, but it's a concern. More concerning is what multiple scouts say about his defense. He gets late breaks, is slow to react, and has exceptionally poor feel for reading balls off the bat. One scout on BP said Tapia had the worst baserunning instincts he had ever encountered. That obviously translates to the field. Maybe that's overly harsh, it probably is, but if he could play CF then he would still be on the Rockies. The stats, the eye test, and the scouting reports say that he isn't playable in CF. I think that's a big problem for us. Grichuk was perfectly adequate for us in that regard. All of the routine plays were made. On the hitting side of things I don't think we lose a lot, but we'll see.
  8. This had to have a lot to do with getting Grichuk the playing time that our FO feels he deserves. He's been a really good soldier for us and should be given a lot of respect. We probably keep him if the at-bats were there, but they just weren't this season. Tapia is a worse player and a worse fit for us, given that he is probably unplayable in CF. Handedness is almost irrelevant when it comes to such a weak hitter. We haven't really saved any money either, considering the need for a backup OF next season as well. Hopefully a corresponding move helps us to make sense of a move that is short on it.
  9. What happened to Biggio and even McGuire?
  10. Tapia is very saaaaaad to leave Coloradoooooo, but he's also very haaaaaaappy to join a new team in Torontoooooo. I love how he talks , it's awesome.
  11. 9.7 million to Colorado. This is a pretty blah trade. I don't think the modest financial savings justify making the move. Colorado actually did pretty well here.
  12. About 6 foot 1 last time I checked.
  13. Any word on the money going to Colorado? I'm hoping we see some fairly significant savings in exchanging for downgrading the roster a bit. Part of this is just doing right by Grichuk as well. He's always been a total pro and a positive leader in the clubhouse. He deserves fulltime at-bats somewhere.
  14. This doesn't really make us better right now, so how we judge it will have to be based on any corresponding move to address CF, using any money that we saved. Tapia adds a bit of speed and a decent bat, but looks unplayable in CF, while Grichuk was steady and passable there as a backup.
  15. That's not really true. Our best month was April by a mile and it just got worse from there, without a single month of even being average. Our bullpen ERA was over 5 in September/October.
  16. That would make some sense. Then you go out and get a guy like Schwarber instead of Kikuchi.
  17. Here's a rumour I haven't heard that is on MLBTR today. Apparently we discussed trading Teoscar Hernandez to the Marlins before the lockout. That could have been interesting.
  18. John Farrell JP Ricciardi Shea Hillenbrand Bill Caudill
  19. We may find out when the Mariners come to town. The advantage in home games will probably be bigger than any difference between the two pitchers in my opinion.
  20. This isn't the place to discuss that. Politicians do what they do and the Blue Jays look like they will benefit from the consequences.
  21. Yes and it's the same for Canadians and Jays players, which is often ignored by Yanks fans.
  22. Ontario is electing a new Premier in May.
  23. Though the lifting of the New York mandate is unofficial, it is certainly not misinformation. It's being reported on all reputable news outlets.
  24. There's a good chance we could see him later in the year in my opinion.
  25. The New York vaccine mandate has been lifted, so Yankees and Mets players can play at home.
