  1. TT filling the zone with good velo. I'll take that from him any time, more like the 2019 version.
  2. Gutsy pick for your first GDT. Don't let us down!
  3. The bright lights of opening day and the expectations for him to carry a mediocre .500 team to a playoff spot were a lot for a young man to handle. He'll be fine after a stint in the minors.
  4. Toronto Blue Jays MLB Baseball JAYS NOTES: Blue Jays, and other teams, are shuffling off to Buffalo for flights to the U.S. BOSTON — When is an off-day not a day off? When it becomes a significantly longer than anticipated travel day. Rather than flying here from Toronto on Sunday night following their game against the Oakland Athletics, the Blue Jays delayed their journey until late Monday afternoon, in part to avoid the congestion of the Boston Marathon, staged earlier that day. There was another twist to the travel day, however, one that many sports teams entering Canada are deploying. Rather than fly out of Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, the team bussed to Buffalo on Monday and flew out of Buffalo International Airport. It’s the same strategy that will be deployed by the Philadelphia 76ers following their playoff games against the Raptors and the same itinerary the Oakland A’s used following Sunday’s game. The reason? Travellers who enter the U.S. via land points of entry do not require proof of a negative COVID-19 test. They do, however, require to be fully vaccinated, reality for travel each way across the Canada-U.S. border. The Jays and other pro teams aren’t necessarily trying to exploit a loophole here. In fact, the Jays have been extremely diligent in their COVID-related protocols, testing anyone in the organization showing symptoms. It is expected other Major League Baseball teams will follow the lead of the Jays, A’s and the NBA 76ers, to name three teams using the itinerary. At issue is the risk of players testing positive — or even coming down with a false positive — and being stuck in Canada for an undetermined length of time. In the case of the 76ers, for example, that could be critical in the midst of a playoff series. Depending on the time of day and border wait, the 170-kilometre journey from the Rogers Centre to the Buffalo airport can be done in less than two hours. With Monday being the Jays’ only day without a game in the first 31 days of the season, not having to spend extra time going through the COVID testing process was a potential time-saver for the team, as well. While the Red Sox haven’t revealed their travel plans, they could follow the same routine as the A’s, especially given the circumstances surrounding the team, which has included three players testing positive for COVID this week. “We know who is not going to Toronto and we already planned accordingly,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said on Tuesday. “We’re not in the business of panicking here.” They are, however, in the business of investigating flights through Buffalo for their four-game series in Toronto, which begins on April 25. The Red Sox have had three players test positive for COVID this week and obviously want to avoid having any of their travelling party stranded in Canada. It’s important to stress that teams such as the Jays and others aren’t doing anything that isn’t available to the average traveller. Canadians have been utilizing the border airport for decades and have taken advantage of the convenience since the border re-opened. It’s not clear how regularly the Jays will use the Buffalo airport during the season with those decisions potentially being made on a trip-to-trip basis. Their next trip, for example, follows a May 4 night game against the Yankees and requires them to be in Cleveland the following night to face the With the exception of the Orioles, the AL East could be a season-long dogfight, some early season evidence gleaned by a look at the standings prior to Wednesday’s game here. There was a three-way tie atop the division with the Jays, Red Sox and Yankees all at 6-5 and the Tampa Bay Rays a half-game back at 6-6. Cora, for one, has been impressed with the Jays emergence as a divisional threat. “(They’re) a good offensive team,” Cora said. “They did an amazing job when they won 91 games last year and they didn’t make it to the playoffs. But it was a team that, towards the end of the season, probably nobody wanted to play them. “They’re a challenge, like everybody in this division. There’s a lot of talent out there. A lot of good young teams and they’re one of them.” FIVE IS ALIVE Other than a dodgy first inning when he walked the first two batters he faced, lefty Yusei Kikuchi’s outing on Tuesday offered up a rather hefty boost for the Jays rotation. Relying on aggressive usage of his fastball, Kikuchi held the Sox to just three hits in five innings. Kikuchi said the key was an early visit from third basemen Matt Chapman, who offered some pointed advice. “He just reminded me to be aggressive,” Kikuchi said. “It gave me a lot of confidence. Coming from Matt Chapman, it meant a lot. I feel I was able to gather myself and go back to being aggressive out there.” Just one start, but the Jays believe the southpaw is headed down the good track. The Toronto front office saw upside in the free-agent signee and is expecting him to show continued improvement as the season moves along. “I feel so good about him now,” manager Charlie Montoyo said. “We feel like when he pitches now, we have a chance. He was aggressive with his fastball, throwing 96 (miles per hour) and he was in control.” He was also sharp defensively, fielding no fewer than five grounders that resulted in outs at first.
  5. Krylian will run around the Roger's Centre concourse naked if he ever gets a save.
  6. Fitting. I always think GO Away Troll when I read your posts.
  7. Two decades of mediocrity (mixed with division titles and playoff runs) pales in comparison to 82 years of futility.
  8. Better than the 5th place finishes we have seen from the team with the worst fans in the history of sports. It's fitting that you would focus on the past with a s***** team to pull for.
  9. I hope the poor guy doesn't have to live in the shittiest city in America on top of pulling for a 4th place team. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
  10. Teams aren't good during rebuilds. A shocking revelation on your part. Enjoy 4th place this year with your s***** pitching and defense.
  11. Don't use all of your tissues crying over this game. There are plenty more losses to come.
  12. My GDT record last year was 7-1. Good start this year. I save them for important games like crushing the spirits of awful fans.
  13. Getting the worst fans in the history of sports all hyped up and crushing their dreams feels better than a 3-0 win.
  14. You can say that again. Holy crap what a play.
  15. I would love to get a run here so Chuckles puts Gausman back out.
  16. Boston's defense continues to give and give. Dalbec at 3B is a hilariously bad managerial decision.
  17. Fair enough. The question was when was our last complete game though.
  18. Ryu threw a complete game last season.
  19. I'm still shocked that Boston traded for Jackie Bradley Jr. and the 17.5 million owed to him. It's one of the most inexplicable trades I have ever seen.
  20. He's out. Good call by our video department and Vlad.
  21. Their new additions Story and Bradley have been solid but the rest of the squad is pretty awful and multiple guys are playing out of position.
  22. They didn't really have a shot at getting him. Arroyo isn't even an outfielder.
