  1. Whether or not that trade was a “net win” for the Jays, or whether signing IKF was a “net win” for War/dollars, isn’t really relevant. It’s a decisive move the team made for what they thought was going to take the team to the next level and it was wrong. They’ve come off that philosophy recently this season and let’s hope it stays that way. I think that was the point of Stangs post
  2. The road to hell is paved good intentions lol. Could be done wrong
  3. Unfortunately, I think this is the reality we’re looking at. No Jerry Jones pissed he’s not holding a trophy. You have corporate overlords that have invested hundreds of millions and probably don’t have the stomach for what the bomb will do to the bottom line. There will be some moves, but it’s going to be a retool
  4. That said, I don’t totally agree with you. I think they simply drafted Manoah over Carroll as an example, but any single instance and such would be completely unfair to judge on. You go off the body of work. In Jays case, it’s not good though
  5. I don’t disagree. I basically said where you pick means s*** in the end. I was just looking for kicks really and didn’t realize the Jays haven’t even had one solid regular player develop so far out of the last 20 years. Prett nuts. Not sure if other teams are like that.
  6. The more knowledgeable baseball minded fans like you are going to be all for it, but many people are fair weathered fans and if the team sends up the Bat signal it’s a rebuild, many people are turning off the proverbial tv and they’ll turn it back on when the Jays are good. So I expect them to present their coming moves as retooling. There will be moves made to be sure but I don’t think they want to give the impression it’s a fire sale.
  7. I’m going to at least bump out Royce Lewis out of the Top Tier of injury prone. Eloy Jimenez and whoever else is in that highest tier. One game back and dude is going back to the DL.
  8. Well, don’t be like the guys that don’t understand there’s two parts to the business. You’re trying to do the best with your baseball roster, while juggling the business side of things. Something that may be an objective win on the former, could hurt you in the latter. So, I can see DP’s point.
  9. Geez. Just looking at their Top pick going back 20 years. The most successful I guess is RP Jeff Hoffman (my neck of woods in HS). Next I guess you go to Ricky Romero and his couple of successful mlb years. Dumpster fire other than that mostly
  10. Going to play the miss game of 1st and Comp round. Behind the Jays pick any franchise changers a reasonable distance where you’d assume they were in contention. 2015- Jays #29 Jon Harris (don’t remember him)…not much after, only Austin Riley #41 2106- #21 Zuech- not much after him but behind their next pick #57 JB Woodman was Pete Alonso. They did pick Bo next 2017- Jays whiff three times, only providing some prospect porn with pics #22/28/29- Wormoth/Pearson/Siese (who again) The year seemed to a bunch of s*** early though 2018- #12 Groshans right after Grayson. Losing a couple would’ve been good. Logan Gilbert went 2 picks later, Casas/McClanahan later in the round if you think they’re a miss but not much otherwise 2019- #11 Manoah. Couple picks later Corbin Carrol 2020- #5 Martin. Interesting players behind that but at this point it’s premature to judge So many mlb misses though. Outside of the Top 5 it’s just such a crap shoot to tank. Even Top 5, there’s a lot of misses. Trading for minor league guys is good for rebuilding obviously, but draft position matters a lot less
  11. Just looking and 2015-2019 Top 10 draft pics there’s a lot of busts and meh players. No franchise players. Definitely not something anyone was missing. Well, unintentionally, the only * would be Royce Lewis. Let’s see if he can stay healthy. 2019 was a good Top 10. More recently it’s premature to judge
  12. Aww.. did your mods come rushing to your defense to ban people? I won’t mock them, as even I stand around that extra minute to hold the door for the disabled people. It’s a natural instinct we have
  13. It went: Brownie Eatmy Max Spanky
  14. Kooch kind of sinking fast in value
  15. That’s the fat lady singing, folks.
  16. Too much time has passed, man. I mean in terms of basic education on these things with athletes, including the DR and other Latino countries where many people have been popped. It’s highly unlikely he took a substance for that issue and didn’t know he should disclose it. I’m pretty sure they get document like the Therapy Exception policy before their first minor league game as well, that needs to be signed and returned.
  17. Real talk, any doctor worth their salt is going to let him know it’s going to raise his T levels. Any athlete is going to know that the deal is there. Masking agents and clomid are how most guys get popped. You usually get this statement each time
  18. It raises your sperm count. It absolutely is prescribed to men to make babies. It’s also stimulates lh/fsh which stimulates natural testosterone, which is problematic I guess, but it’s not to a level that’s going to give someone an athletic advantage
  19. The likely scenario is he ran a cycle in the off-season, tried to do a post cycle therapy run of clomid, and got nailed. He probably went through the appeals process and got denied. But I don’t think if a guy is having trouble making a baby with his wife, that mlb is going to say, you can’t use Clomid
  20. Popped for clomid lol. Clomid by itself isn’t going to do jack for athletic performance, but they just assume you were taking steroids to use it I think mlb would probably work with the player on it, similar to ADHD meds, when a valid prescription is in play for something like that
  21. Vlad for Casas, Mayer, and Baz. Pretty fair? Or could I ask for one more piece? I’d be offering Vlad
  22. I’d likely make out with a man before I ever became a NYY fan, but that’s a pretty fun and easy to root for duo they got. Soto can basically sign his check. I’m going to guess 14/540
  23. 5-1 betting odds to make playoffs. I’d pass
  24. Age and drive. I remember he had his second kid a year ago or something, and his other one is still likely young. Seems like he’d be a family guy. He’s on the contract he’s on and just doesn’t seem like the intense “reverse the aging process” athlete. Of course the power of highlight is strong here lol
  25. Yeah, hed definitely get a decent settlement offer for it to go away, like Colin K. Not to bring up Race and get banned again, but I think it was obviously way worse with any open job and people saying why doesn’t it go to Colin K, but the same would happen with TB. So they’d probably make him an offer. He’s a bit of a firebrand, so who knows if he’d take it. That would be it regardless though, in terms Orlando ever playing again, as you said
