  1. Haven't posted much lately, just been reading- busy with school. What is the general consensus on a Melky QO? Does he take it? I think the best case scenario is offering it and he declines. Really don't see him repeating this year. I'm expecting to hear of a 3/40 deal announced by AA because "he wants to be here" and "he fits in our clubhouse". I agree with Moogy- Aoki would be great.
  2. Yikes!
  3. Wasn't there reports of AA being interested in a J Upton trade a couple of winters ago?
  4. I need some help. Which do you guys think is the better lineup? I have Scherzer, Gattis, Zobrist, Andrus and Longo set in stone. I can financially fit in the following 1B/OF: A)Abreau, R Davis, J Upton and Cutch B)Freeman, R Davis, J Upton, and Cutch or JD Martinez C)Tex, any combination of R Davis, J Upton, Cutch and JD Martinez I really want to play Martinez vs the Twins and May, but not sure which lineup would be optimal. Thoughts?
  5. I agree. Especially since he would've went out for the ninth, he was only ~90 pitches if I remember correctly.
  6. He was. I live close to the Twin Cities so I watch a lot of his games. Keeps the ball in the park, pounds the zone.
  7. Phil Hughes has pitched 8 innings against the Diamondbacks this afternoon. He needs to pitch 8 1/3 innings to receive a 500k bonus, and they're in the middle of a rain delay! That's some tough luck.
  8. Yup, I'd be down
  9. I've had some success, but more losing than success haha. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it though, especially in picking teams between cash games and GPP.
  10. Ive never played DraftKings, but Fan Duel hasn't given me a reason to leave it. It's a lot of fun, and putting in 50 bucks and playing for a few months is a lot better than going to any casino and losing that in a night.
  11. I would play on Monday if you guys were interested
  12. Thats what I was thinking, but I kept psyching myself out about it. Thanks for the reply, I'm hoping for another high scoring game in Denver tonight!
  13. What are your guys' opinions on "stacking" in a certain game? For example, when the Dodgers and Rockies are playing at Coors with Haren and Matzek starting tonight.
  14. Trout and Kershaw
  15. I can't help but think he thought Adderall would help him focus and "be a better hitter"
  16. Nobody ITT is arguing that. All Jonn said was that an infield of EE, Reyes, Castro and Valencia would be pretty sub-par defensively. That's like saying "I'd still rather have Miggy at third over Brett Lawrie".
  17. Thanks for the responses guys
  18. Do you guys have specific strategies to picking players? I'm not the most SABR savvy guy, although I have a general understanding of them. Just looking for some tips when playing tournaments, etc.
  19. Sorry gentlemen, had some things come up with school and literally had it close on me mid lineup. If you wanted to set one up tonight for tomorrow I would be willing to do that.
  20. Can't see owners, players or anyone being interested in cutting out off days. The amount of money the make doesn't hide the fact that they're still human, and that their bodies need proper recovery time. If anything, the amount of money invested in players makes off days that much more necessary. Cut the season shorter, make the playoffs earlier, if you must. Regular season games shouldn't be going into October.
  21. Yup, gotta be two bucks tho haha, my first 25 didnt last as long as I had hoped.
  22. I did say retool, where you would keep the young players intact and roll with what you've got, somewhat like the Cubs are doing right now. I do believe that would be more fun to watch than the current group. That starts with trading Bautista which will never happen. All valid points, can't really disagree with any of them. I do think Stroman can stick in the rotation, along with Hutch. They could potentially fill the 2/3 slots on a good team. Right now I view them as solid 3/4's. I guess my only issue is that I don't see the downside in trying him as a starter. If he fails, then you can relegate him to the pen. Until then, I would prefer to see him start in AAA as depth to start the next year.
  23. Hypothetically, if the Jays were to move into a retool, would you still advocate Sanchez to the pen? In a year that probably wouldn't mean much, wouldn't you be interested to see what he can do as a starter? I agree that as a back end reliever he would be successful. I feel like you're taking this stance though, so that in 3 years if he has failed (as most starters do), you can bring up this thread to say "I told you so". It's really not that bold of a prediction. Guys with plus velocity often don't have a problem finding a job in an MLB pen. That being said, he has been handled wrong. He should've been left in AAA/AA to work on his secondary offerings. If he makes the rotation out of ST next year, he's likely doomed as a starter, as he'll get shelled because his stuff isn't up to par due to not being given time to develop his secondaries properly. If anything, we should be talking about Sanchez as a September call up next September, and not what his future holds right now.
  24. I love when guys pull the "more educated than you" card. Truly validates their superiority.
  25. Will Big John be upset if I take the last free spot?
