  1. Money saved in this trade + trading one of the catchers mean two sizeable additions should be expected this offseason.
  2. Good post Jonn
  3. I mean it’s the middle of November and there have been like three free agent signings and a couple of trades. No way they’re going to go into next year with Merrifield in CF and Espinal/Biggio at second. What addition(s) offensively is yet to be seen but they’re not calling it an offseason by adding Erik Swanson and that’s it.
  4. Do you always look at things glass half empty?
  5. I’m sure they would’ve preferred to trade LGJ
  6. The inverse of this would be trading three years of Jordan Romano for one year of Mitch Haniger People would be PISSED if that happened Can’t please everybody
  7. Lmao yes they kinda did... it’s called saving 14M
  8. Wanna know what else you need in the playoffs? Swing and miss relievers. 15% swst rate Might be the new closer
  9. Half of a year of Francisco Liriano turned into 5 seasons of Teoscar. One year of Teoscar will turn into .... TBD If Swanson is a back end guy for the next 3 years this looks great. If he turns into a pumpkin you moved a 130 wRC+ bat during an offseason you were supposed to compete.
  10. All this tells me is that the Jays are shaking things up and the team is probably going to look fairly different next year. Teo has one year remaining and was always unlikely to be re signed. Use that money on a different OF or in the rotation. This move on its own is going to look disappointing. Need to reserve judgment until we see how they allocate the savings.
  11. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/erik-swanson-657024?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb
  12. The question isn’t is Cavan Biggio good, the question is whether or not a 1.5 win player is worth 3M. The answer is yes.
  13. Bauer is gonna serve his suspension, come back and dominate and pitch until he’s 42.
  14. I think so too. It stifles his market.
  15. I’d say it was dumb to offer Perez
  16. Might be the last offseason to squeeze a little bit of orange juice out of Biggio.
  17. All good points. The rule isn’t to reward development of ROY votes it’s to stop teams from holding down prospects. Weird to see how it played out with so many big names this year. Don’t the top 3 qualifiers get some sort of compensation or am I dreaming that up?
  18. Ian Happ and Adbert Alzolay would both fit. Problem is the two young catchers are too much and two years of Jansen isn’t going to interest them.
  19. It’s not perfect but it works. J Rod would’ve been kept down to start this year had the rule not been in place. Losing a year on Adley feels like a massive blunder. Might as well get started on that mega extension for him.
  20. Pretty arbitrary method to qualify but I guess the thought is the Corbin Carroll’s and Adley’s of the world are most likely to be ROY contenders
  21. Was Michael Harris a top 100 prospect? I’m assuming he was on lists but I don’t think he was very high
  22. Another wow! The Orioles should’ve just brought him up on day one if this is the case. Crazy not to actually
  23. Wow!
  24. Those bottom four should all accept. Rizzo should too but I don’t think he will. Nobody is going to want to give up a pick to sign him.
  25. It’s wild the Jays have 3 catchers in the top 10 ish in projected wRC+
