  1. Exactly. They’re just really really good at development. Same as the Rays, Cards, Braves, Astros That’s the model to replicate, not spend spend spend
  2. Rogers is always going to operate with constraints. This isn’t Mike Illitch’s Tigers or Steve Cohen’s Mets Like lots of others have said the only FA contract I even would’ve wanted is Verlander’s Like the Boston Red Sox have twice dumped superstar players in order to get out from bad contracts
  3. I don’t think willingness to sit on dead money at the end of a deal is a sign of supporting a team I think it’s more likely that Preller and Dombroski know they won’t be there forever and those contracts will be someone else’s problem.
  4. Ya good point, two and three years of control vs FA next year. Lose a draft pick Teo would’ve brought back. Raising the floor of the team. I get how people get frustrated watching them make small moves like this, but it’s better than tying yourself to some of these albatross contracts.
  5. Probably a push in terms of WAR More well rounded than they were before Astros win with Chas McCormick and Maldonado so anything is possible
  6. Pivoted from Belli to KK File this one under “run prevention”
  7. It’s just hard to wrap your head around a 24M extension for Kevin Pillar I was hoping there would be a corner outfielder to pair with him if this move was made. Conforto or Brantley would be nice. Not sure that happens now but we’ll see Salaries are nuts right now. Not a fan but it is what it is
  8. True that’s a pretty good rate
  9. His dad actually
  10. Holy s*** 2/24 for KK? Brutal Not a fan
  11. That’s awesome. All of those players deserve some compensation for being some of the most valuable pieces in the game. How do the award the dollar figure does anyone remember?
  12. If they can’t bring in a CF they could pivot to Brantley. Doesn’t help the OF defence but a steady LH bat with good OBP is better than nothing
  13. You should be willing to trade anyone if the deal is good. But who are you fooling into giving you something worthwhile for Chris Taylor lite? There are dumb teams but they’re typically already filled with .390 slug versatile infielders
  14. I think Kikuchi is locked into #5, White is the de facto #6 and they’ll bring in one starter to fill out the rotation
  15. Bonkers
  16. How many .100 ISO Blue Jays do you expect the Marlins to trade for?
  17. I don’t see a reason to move Espinal. He’s not the profile of player teams overpay for and the there isn’t a competent back up SS otherwise on the roster. Plus he’s cheap and cover 3 IF positions.
  18. They should just move him to the BP permanently and milk whatever they can from him
  19. I agree ideally you’d know exactly what role you’re going to fill but nothing about Kikuchi’s situation is ideal. The Jays lack starting depth so there’s no question he’s going to start the year as an SP. But if he fails as an SP again they might have no choice. Can go from SP to RP mid season, a lot tougher to do RP to SP
  20. I’m excited to see both Kikuchi and Berrios get a reset over the winter. Sometimes things get bad and they spiral and it feels like there’s no way to recover. Take some time away, focus on what you need to do to get better without the pressure of game situations. Even if Kikuchi becomes a LH weapon out of the pen that would help the club.
  21. Exactly. Premier player in FA with premier teams seeking C help. Nobody was gonna take themselves out of the Contreras running by trading for one.
  22. At this rate they’re gonna end up with Greinke
  23. Wow @ that Matt Strahm contract
