Sign a platoon-ish corner outfielder (easiest position to find) and call it an offseason. Maybe a depth starter or something
I don’t really care how the Mets or Padres operate. The real question is does spending aggressively in free agency end up in World Series championships? History tells us no which makes it an inefficient way of building a team.
Most of the World Series winners over the last decade had a home grown nucleus that was supplemented with free agents or trades

Agreed. The team is not considerably worse than the end of the year. In fact the team is better than it was to start the season last year and they have the entire season to make additions/call up players like they did this year.
Remember they had guys like Katoh and Collins on the bench to start the year last year. That won’t be the case this year.
Kepler has always been an interesting guy, I wouldn’t hate that. Would prefer a couple of the other guys first but would lump him with Pollock and Profar for sure.
That would be exciting and make them immediate World Series contenders but would handicap a lot of other moves.
Idk I’ve always been a little risk averse. Leave some wiggle room in case of emergency.
