  1. The difference is Gose is an excellent defender, has an amazing arm and great speed.
  2. I really think we should start Gose in CF and move Rasmus to left. Or maybe do a 3-way platoon with those two and Pillar between the 2 positions. I think that if Gose is given regular playing time he will be a valuable MLB player with his D and speed. He doesn't need to hit much at all to have a very positive contribution. I also think he will respond much better playing in the MLB than being sent to AAA again. I think his confidence plays a big role in his performance, as we've seen a bit this year. He's still young and working with CM is a good thing. This fills the hole in LF and then we can spend our money/assets on C, DH, SP or maybe 2B (See Goins thread lol). I don't think we have that much money to spend and I really don't want to ravish the farm again and I think this is the easiest position to fill in-house.
  3. Who are we gonna get then? And how much are you willing to give up?
  4. Do you guys expect AA to go out and find studs at 2B,C,LF,DH and a couple stud SP this offseason without spending more than ~10-15 million? Do you want him to ravish the farm system again? With the current state of this franchise I don't think we'll be able to fill all the holes. Personally I think the best moves would be to use Gose/Pillar and Goins/Kawasaki to fill holes at 2B and CF (Move Rasmus to left) and use the money on a C, LF and a couple good SP.
  5. Good to see you 3 are still responding with top notch quality response.
  6. Well this thread has fallen a bit. I've been thinking about it and I don't think I would mind Goins starting at 2B next year. I think our money/assets should definitely be spent on SP and C/LF first. Besides Cano there really isn't a 2B that's worth getting as a FA, and I really don't want to give up what's left of our farm system in a trade for a 2B. Izturis really hasn't worked out and I don't want him starting at 2B next year, I'd much rather have someone who can play D, like Goins. Kawasaki is a decentoption, but I think Goins is much better on D and at the plate.
  7. I think next year we should switch it up and let a bunch of people make GDTs just for some variety.
  8. Yep, and with a young guy like Goins you have the potential for growth and improvement with the bat.
  9. Well I'm glad you're happy he's doing bad now. I guess it isn't SSS anymore
  10. Keep it up. It's clear you have nothing constructive to say.
  11. I see what you're saying but I guess I'm thinking along the lines that power comes from making good contact with the ball and being a good hitter. Some guys are all or nothing, but many aren't. I guess I was thinking that being able to hit the ball for a hit came first, and whether it was a single, double or triple came next. Walks are important but as we discussed in the other thread a hit is more valuable than a walk.
  12. I'm not even gonna bother debating with you since you continue to ignore what I'm saying and just attack.
  13. Are you denying that there are productive outs?
  14. That's just saying the same thing but adding walks/errors. Plus then you get into sacrifices and productive outs. Btw I didn't mean to quote you 3 times I don't know why it happened
  15. So why don't you call out everyone else for talking about prospects they haven't seen? That's the whole point of the board, to talk about prospects and find out information about them. They don't look at SABR stats and incorporate them into observations, they live for SABR stats. They don't look at anything else. You need a mix and balance.
  16. Are you saying he doesn't?
  17. I don't know much about Chris Johnson, but that's what batting average is, getting hits. I said the most important offensive thing is getting hits, not overall.
  18. If they are equally talented at getting hits, then I would look to other parts of their game: power, defense, speed. It's pretty simple. All stats are important, but getting hits is the most important. And then I would look at stats like runs and rbis to see how the player has contributed to scoring runs to help my final assessment. Of course I would also like to watch the player play and come up with my own analysis.
  19. I think Dickey might have touched 80 recently.
  20. I'm not saying batting average tells you how good a player is. It tells you how good they are at getting hits. Which I believe is the most important part of the game.
  21. Nope. He's the third best at getting hits. Which is the most important thing in the game.
  22. The earth is flat if you don't love SABR stats.
  23. So you have nothing to say
