Thanks for actually replying to the Goins supporters with information instead of just spewing attacks and nonsense. We don't have a large enough to sample to know how great Goins' D is, but so far I'd say its pretty good. The main point is that he doesn't have to hit too much to be somewhat valuable.

I interpret that number that opposite way. Even a 0-1 WAR player would be a significant upgrade. I think a combination of Goins and Izturis can easily put up 0-1 WAR, so it should be the last position to upgrade. Also 2B is not a real offensive position, and this year we suffered from terrible D at 2B, which Goins can fix. The offensive upgrade at 2B is a real priority, but there are much more important things to deal with (SP, C)

I agree and I might even put it at 4th priority. SP,C,SP,DH/LF is the order before 2B. We really need someone to platoon with Lind, or someone better than Lind to play full time at DH. If there's still some money left over I guess we could get a 1 win upgrade at 2B, it might be better to role with Goins/Izturis, who might end up producing that 1 extra win anyway.

Just stick the man in CF if not just for the entertainment value of having an exciting player to watch everyday instead of what we saw during this mess of a season.

In 129 games with Jays in 2007 John McDonald put up .9 WAR with a wRC+ of 57. McDonald might be better on D, but I'm pretty confident Goins can easily surpass a wRC+ of 57.

I really think Goins would be replacement at the very worst. I could see him putting up 1-2 WAR.

With the wholes we have there I really think its not a bad idea to go with what we have at 2B, and the best option might be Goins.

I'd rather have Goins start at 2B than give up Stroman for Kendrick

I think Rasmus would be fine in LF. He doesn't have a great arm so its a good fit. If we can get good value for Rasmus in a trade than that might be a good option too. Maybe Rasmus for a SP or C. Its too bad we have Melky for next year, I don't really want him starting unless he's much better.

It's not like Bautista is a liability lol. He's still a great hitter

If he could have something close to his line last year in AAA it would be great. (.286/.366/.419) and the year before that in AA he was even better. Of course this year he wasn't near as good, but I really think that has to do with attitude and confidence problem more than ability.

I really think he could end up close to that slash line with a little work. He was around there in the minors so its definitely possible.

Yeah Rajai isn't ideal but I think he's done a good job over the last couple years. As for Gose he's somewhere between 4th OF and starting CF. We just need to see if he can hit.

Ok that works too, I'm just getting really tired of having terrible defense around the field. Gose in CF and Rasmus in LF would be excellent compared to Melky and Rasmus. I don't think every 4th OF has the tools Gose does. Just look at Rajai, he's a great 4th OF, but he doesn't have near the arm or D that Gose has.

I feel more safe with starting Gose, but this is about money/assets and if we can't get a 2B then Goins might be the answer, but thats for another thread.
