    Every Blue Jays transaction, no matter how small, deserves a thread. It should be in the message board constitution.

    I don't think it's that complicated yet. The peripherals are good so reasonable people should expect him to roughly match those indicators going forward. Estrada might be a bigger 2016 mystery than Hutch.

    I think he just didn't place enough value on it. He would get some depth but it never seemed like enough. This contributed in some part to the team not meeting expectations in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, Toronto was extremely lucky in the health department IIRC. They got 28+ starts from 4 different SP, which is pretty crazy. So was Stroman's miracle recovery. Did a SP even get hurt outside of Stroman? I guess Buehrle's shoulder wore out. He also had a weird habit of bringing guys into the org and then never really giving them a chance. Or cutting them loose after 1 big league innings, etc.

    More to the point, I bet ST games would draw more viewers than whatever else they plan to have on at 1pm most days in March.

    He's not going to the highest bidder no matter what, lol. He probably wants to win a WS more than maximize his money. The allure of competing for a WS in a lineup with Donaldson, Tulo, Martin, and Edwin for the next few years will be intense. Maybe if the highest bidder happens to be the Dodgers or Mets or some other very strong contender then he'll go there.

    Alex Gordon is just as good (or better), significantly younger, and he just got 4/$72.

    So he's getting significantly more than a stupid contract that turned out horribly for the team? I could see him asking for the V.Mart deal. That would be fair.

    The fact that Jose is so old, but still so good, works heavily in the Blue Jays' favour. They should be able to get him extended on a reasonable 3 or 4 year deal, and he should end up being worth it. There's really no reason to expect him to demand some ludicrous contract. Beltran was good at 36 and signed for 3/$45. Zobrist was good at 35 and signed for 4/$56. If Jose doesn't retire as a Blue Jay then either his camp has insane contract demands or Toronto is f***ing stupid.
