Speaking of Mazara and Brinson, were the 2013 Hickory Crawdads the best A ball team ever, in a prospect sense?
Joey Gallo
Lewis Brinson
Nomar Mazara
Nick Williams
Jorge Alfaro
Ronald Guzman
Ryan Rua
CJ Edwards (Cubs now)
Keone Kela
Andrew Faulkner
Alex Claudio
I mean that's more talent than most organization top 10 lists. All on one A ball squad.
Reminds me of the Bonifacio guy
Holy s*** I just looked up Boni's stats and he had a 79 wRC+ in 2012. AA was attracted to the track star coming off of a 79 wRC+ and then the team anointed him a starter. Mind boggling.
The interesting thing to me is to think about which numbers and puppet-masters are manipulating YOU, without you even realizing it?
Someone wants you to post these messages. You're naive if you think this is on account of your own free will
Well Travis, Martin, Colabello, and Tulo all project for wOBAs in the .326-.334 range. If Pillar can improve his true talent into that range then maybe it's defensible.
Gibbons is at least pretty quick to make changes if something isn't working. Even if he gifts Pillar the leadoff spot it will probably only last for a couple of weeks, BABIP dragon willing.

At least platoon them there then. Hopefully Travis can come back soon and supplant Pillar in the undeserved most plate appearances position.
Is Gibbons dead set on those four guys hitting #2-5? It just makes such an awkward lineup, with Martin hitting way down in the 7th slot and a largely inferior guy leading off. It's more annoying than anything.
You state facts, but even with the lovely wOBAs he was a guy that couldn't find it in himself to yank 20 over the fence, and he's probably done stealing double digit bases. There's some inherent risk in the basic statistical profile in a fantasy sense. No idea what type of player he will be production wise. All we really know is that he has a special hitting ability and obviously some raw juice - which is all that can be said about a lot of top hitting prospects, like his teammate C.Seags.
I know Brett Anderson is fringe 20 team talent but finding out that he has a bulging disk right after trading Iglesias+Hendricks+Manaea would have been a bit of a dick punch.

There are a lot of things to dislike about him: injury risk, personality, mechanics, home park, race. The level of risk with Yazl is probably not much different than the risk of any top hitting prospect.
