  1. New legit = will jump big either into league top 100 lists, or the team's top ~5 rankings. Can currently be in the top 10 if you think they will jump into 100 list considerations. Can even jump to MLB. Basically, achieves blue chip prospect status. Sleeper = currently outside team top 15 or 20, will jump into team top 10. Or jump into an MLB role (ex. Girodo) Really it's just sleeper and deep sleeper.
  2. Their pythag was 102 last year. Should regress to 100+ wins this season.
  3. Some people do. Teams care about it. There are actual academics that study it. It's a rather nebulous topic though. The science is thick and not easily accessible. The science isn't conclusive on a lot of things. The effects also aren't binary - you're talking about someone's risk of TJS rising from 30% to 38% (or something like that) if they have specific mechanical issues. So the degree of risk in most decisions is probably outweighed by the potential benefits of, say, having someone produce as a SP for a few years vs. pitching in the bullpen. Mostly people don't talk about it because they don't know what they're talking about, plainly. So it's a good thing that it's not discussed all that much IMO. There's little worse than someone on Twitter s***ing out still pictures and predicting catastrophic injuries. I only talk about it because I am an expert in the field.
  4. Basically. And while the inverted W is a bit of a red herring and it's possible to actually have that arm action and good timing, Aaron Sanchez has the bad arm action and it results in bad timing. He has an increased injury chance, which will be compounded by starting.
  5. Didn't you get a pie from silvergums last year? Everyone else did
  6. Smoak and Colabello are very close in talent. Arguably, Smoak should play 2/3 of the time (against all RHP). Colabello's peripherals from last year don't inspire much confidence. Hopefully the leash is short on him.
  7. Yeah I'm dumb. Read a tweet and repeated it without thinking.
  8. Adam Conley (26) Oswaldo Arcia (25) I know, not that old. Junior Guerra (31) Tyler Lyons (28) Matt Bush (30) Tyler Chatwood (26.5) Justin Miller (29) Carlos Frias (26) Drew Pomeranz (27) Oliver Drake (29) Tyler Saladino (27) Erik Johnson (26) Josh Tomlin (31) Mike Clevinger (25) I know, not that old Shane Greene (27.5) Preston Tucker (26) Hector Olivera (31) Aledmys Diaz (26) Chris Bassitt (27) Joe Wieland (26) Michael McKenry (31)
  9. Disco bloomed last year. May is already in full bloom he just hasn't been given the opportunities. The rest are good ones.
  10. An upside argument supports Gallo over Crawford
  11. You can trade someone after they are DFA'd. Straily could still be a projected cut for Houston.
  12. Gregor Chisholm ‏@gregorMLB 57s58 seconds ago Montero is out of options and cannot be sent to Minors without clearing waivers. I'd have to think #BlueJays will try to get him through. Jays are 26th on the waiver wire so there's a decent chance he makes it through to Buffalo.
  13. The only guys above Crawford that absolutely shouldn't be are Bregman and Swanson. Like, there is no argument for them over Crawford. Everyone else is high ceiling and upper minors, basically, so the other 18 names above him are at least defensible in different ways.
  14. Those aren't unlikely. You can add the chance that any other SP gets hurt or sucks ass or gets traded
  15. Nope. He could start 20+ games. Odds are that Sanchez sucks at starting and Floyd's elbow breaks again anyway.
  16. I don't really think you want to go point counterpoint on prospect success rates. But just to be fair, Baretto is also "a prospect." Give me Mazara too but let's not pretend that he's actually Mookie Betts or Kris Bryant or Carlos Correa right now. I mean a few years ago wasn't the cool crowd Profar, Taveras, Bundy, Myers, and Shelby Miller?
  17. It's not. Prospects are prospects...
  18. Won't happen though. They went to the playoffs with Goins and now he's part of the clique.
