    Looks like that notion was mostly #FakeNews Shapiro probably saw the writing on the wall and hired a PR firm to plant some stories in Ontario making him look bright. Then Ed Rogers was psychologically infiltrated and Shatkins was free to flee to Canada. It'll be a long next ten years for Toronto baseball fans, I tell you what.

    Are the Blue Jays trying to lose without obviously tanking? I think you have to ask the question. Running so many guys like Smoak, Salty, Barney, Coghlan, Zeke, Goins, Lawrence, Latos, and Tepera out there willingly and regularly has to raise some integrity questions. Do they even care about winning?

    The Carlos Correa era is over already. I just can't own a player that spicy. Correa + Cal Quantril to GP Machado + Graveman + pick #64 to me GP needs to cut or promote a prospect, I'm guessing he'll promote Barreto but not sure.

    I know people complain about umps all the time, but tonight was special. Not sure I've ever seen such slanted umpiring - from the balls and strikes, to the review, and then that horrendous obstruction call. A marvel.

    Thames' current wOBA and wRC+ are higher than Bonds' best seasons. He's a rich man's Bonds. Of course, Thames has a 23% k rate and .400 BABIP, so to some extent his numbers are lucky. How much is TBD.

    Click on SLG or ISO - he is killing pitches inside. Really he is killing all pitches.

    No, only the catcher is permitted to wear the catcher's mitt. Only the first baseman can wear the first baseman's glove. Everyone else must fit in the standard fielding glove definition. A pitcher's glove is not allowed to be "distracting" to the hitter. The rules are permissive, not prescriptive - so the C and 1B can wear normal fielding gloves if they want, I think.

    It's because of the MLB rules about gloves. A player is only allowed to wear a 1B glove if they are playing 1B - says so in the rules. Last year the Pirates complained about Rizzo crashing with a 1B glove while Zobrist was manning 1B. Rizzo had an illegal glove, technically. So now Rizzo switches gloves with the 2B on these plays - he is officially playing 2B in the box score. It's technically different from other shifts for that reason.
