Vlad should care. The team that is invested in him should care. The fans should stop caring - he's going to be a huge guy, always. Also it's okay to #PlayFat. Stop body shaming the guy. Toronto is trying to corner the market on beef. Vladdy, Rowdy, Alejandro Kirk, Alek Manoah, Nate Pearson (give it a couple of years). Travis Shaw has a nice ponch going on this spring. Ryu is a big meaty Korean. There is a whole lot to love in the organization right now.

He looks about the same. Even if he lost 15 pounds, guy his size, you'd barely be able to tell that with his clothes off, let alone with a baggy uniform on. It's possible he lost 15 pounds of fat and gained some muscle too. Who really cares.

This is right. While The Airport is lame, most of the good nicknames are based on some characteristic of the player or event in their life, and not on their name itself. There are already other Big Nates in baseball... If we are going to force a nickname on Pearson we can do better than The Airport or YYZ. I mean he throws 100, just call him Nuke Pearson. -

Touching 94 as a RHRP is not going to cut it unless he has a wipeout secondary. It would be fun though. Like a s***** Michael Lorenzen, or an older version who is much worse at pitching but much better at pinch hitting. -

I think he's mostly right. By seniority certain guys like Kay, Wag, and Borucki will be the first called up from Buffalo, unless they are hurt or really struggling. These guys are already on the 40 man roster and Pearson isn't. The team will do something this year to minimize Pearson's total workload and I think we might see them put a pitch limit on him in Buffalo for several weeks before setting him loose and then subsequently calling him, if/when needed in Toronto. -

Well they say it's a cost thing. Wood breaks, the aluminum bats really don't. Break a few wood bats and wood starts to cost more. The manufacturers also have supply contracts and certain complicated relationships with the leagues and teams/coaches. So some coaches kind of support aluminum bats because it's in their contract to support the company that pays the school (or something like that). NCAA is kind of showcase for the aluminum bat manufacturers. Also, the bats they use are now manufactured to be close to wood bats in performance. Look up BBCOR bats.
