Yeah "top 30 prospect" does not mean they are good. It could really be anyone. A prospect around the 30 mark is basically interchangeable with the next 30 prospects.

I think they'd consider it. I mean, the Reds aren't dealing Bauer for anything less than a prospect like that. The might even want more.

It's a very unpredictable trade market. They can QO Bauer and get compensation. Will teams be willing to give up premium assets this year for rentals, with so many teams in the playoffs? I dunno!

Walker might be the best of the available SP that was certain to get traded. I don't mind Toronto jumping on him. They need competent SP reinforcements. The sexier guys like Lynn, Clevinger, and Bundy might very well not get dealt. I don't think it makes sense to go crazy and overpay for one of them just to have a slightly better chance of winning as the 8th seed.

I thought he would be a likely target because the cost can't be high (4.94 FIP and a pending free agent) but there is some upside. I don't see any statistical indicators of immediate upside so it's more "lightning in a bottle" upside based on his pedigree. Apparently it's a PTBNL so we have to wait and see the cost. Hopefully just a lower upside prospect.

Continuous public complaining about a moderator or moderation does two negative things: it hinders the independence and discretion the moderators need to perform their work and it hurts public perception of moderation on the message board. If a specific post is against the rules you can report the post - this is the preferred way of bringing something to the moderators' attention. The moderators do not owe the board an explanation for any decision to or to not discipline a poster or delete something. Font is an annoying reliever. You look at his K/BB and think he should be at least a decent reliever. Stuff looks okay. But he has been getting rocked this year and his whole career. I think going to him is justifiable with a 3 run lead. They are trying to spread the work around a taxed pen. I cannot understand the justification for having him face Verdugo, though. Kind of just want Font gone to be honest.

Almost every time, pulling a SP third time through the order is the right move. Charlie isn’t even making decisions like that though - it’s all coming from above. You guys are dummies.

If a player gets put on waivers the other teams have 72 hours to submit a claim. They were confusing being DFA'd with being waived.

The real question with robotic strikes & balls is will they redefine the strike zone? If they don't the game will fundamentally change because pitches that currently get called strikes more than 50% of the time will be balls, and some pitches that are almost never called strikes will always be called strikes. This will have a huge effect. Certain players will be from good to bad, or bad to good, overnight.

Zone% by appearance: 38.8 40.5 50.6 --> Toronto game 37.2 35.6 28.9 He has only thrown strikes 50% of the time or more in one other MLB appearance, a 2019 relief outing. His career Zone% is 36.9%

The point of the rule is really just about naming the player. Players not on the 60 should not expect to be shuttled around if they are traded, so they will be PTBNLs. No big deal. Yes, a team could add a player to their 60 and include them by name in a trade but they'd only do that if the receiving team really wanted to add them to their 60 too for some reason. Can't see that really happening. We should see a lot of PTBNLs.

I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. There are teams that don't even have a catcher on their top ~30 prospects list while Toronto has a handful. Moreno's best use to Toronto might very well be as trade bait. Fangraphs lists: LAA - zero C PIT - zero C SEA - two C SFG - two C including Bart CIN - two C including Stephenson TOR - five C (Kirk, Moreno, Adams, D'Orazio, and McGuire) plus a decent young MLB catcher in Jansen.

I clearly admitted that comparing their swings was silly by saying I should ban myself. They do look similar though. Someone could put together a gif side by side and on certain swings it's uncanny.
