Jim, how many times have we seen scouts be wrong on this type of stuff though? Here is Fangraphs post 2017 on Shane Bieber:
"Shane Bieber, RHP- A strike-throwing righty with average fastball/slider combination, Bieber features very little projection. The fastball lacks movement but a big stride and short arm action aid in deception. Up-and-down type of arm."
Normally when these type of guys succeed in the majors the prospectors then make something up to cover their tracks. "Bieber ironed out his mechanics in 2018 and gained a tick on his fastball".
Joe Ryan could suck, like anybody, but the stats are loud enough to speak on their own. I'm pretty surprised he lasted this long.
