  1. I think he stopped being visible when MLB tightened up some COVID protocols. He might not have been allowed in the dugout anymore. I dunno.
  2. Yeah, Billy Hamilton is basically just a better version of the guy they just DFA'd. You can't really ever start him. Bradley Jr. is not a complete zero with the bat - he can do a bit of everything and you can actually roll him out there as a starter hitting at the bottom of a lineup.
  3. Rays should just have Chaz Roe start. Let him face the top 6, all righties, then being in Yarbrough.
  4. "trying to get Jansen's bat going" "I like Biggio to get on base and turn the lineup over" Biggio must have insulted Charlie to his face!
  5. Taijuan Walker is a name to watch. Not because he’s be an obvious upgrade, but because he’d cost almost nothing and there is some lightning in a bottle potential. If someone like that replaces Trent in the rotation is might be a small upgrade to both the rotation and pen.
  6. Anthony Alford vs. 4 seamers, career: .053/.143/.211 6 wRC+ 20.2 SwStr% (129 pitches) Compare to another horrible baseball player with similar tools package, Lewis Brinson: .222/.271/.415 90 wRC+ 11.6 SwStr% (920 pitches) Compare to one of the worst non-pitcher hitters I could think of in the modern era who got a decent amount of playing time, Paul Janish: .197/.286/.261 63 wRC+ 6.0 SwStr% (2029 pitches) Jeff Mathis: .178/.265/.280 59 wRC+ 13.2 SwStr% There are many, many pitchers who can at least make contact against fastballs more often than Alford has.
  7. He can’t hit an MLB fastball. Maybe some other team can fix the giant hole in his swing but that’s hard to imagine. I don’t think it’s a case of “needs more playing time”. It’s a pretty fundamental skill that he lacks.
  8. Fantrax is a f***ing dream. I think the only arguable downside is that the mobile app is not as easy to use but part of Yahoo's ease of use is obviously due to its lack of options.
  9. Joey Bart and Sixto Sanchez getting promoted. This goofy 2020 is kind of nice as a rebuilding team. Some accelerated timelines are helping me get MLB looks at a number of prospects. Skubal, Bart, and Sanchez so far in this league, Varsho, Bohm, Paredes, Jesus Sanchez, Seth Romero in the LoD.
  10. If he never gets demoted they should have SIX years after this one. A good example of how absurd the CBA is for some players. Merryweather is cost controlled until he is 35. Thirty. Five!
  11. Dan Vogelbach is an interesting DFA. Not sure I'd want Toronto to grab him but maybe a slight upgrade?
  12. I think this analysis is correct. The Angels should be better than Texas but LA has already dug such a huge hole. Toronto actually has a very soft schedule coming up after 6 against Philly and Tampa. With Boston being horrendous the AL East is not a gauntlet at all: (win prob%) Aug 25, 2020 vs BOS 56.8% Aug 26, 2020 vs BOS 53.0% Aug 27, 2020 vs BOS 57.2% Aug 28, 2020 vs BAL 65.3% Aug 29, 2020 vs BAL 64.6% Aug 30, 2020 vs BAL 60.7% Aug 31, 2020 vs BAL 65.5% Sep 1, 2020 at MIA Sep 2, 2020 at MIA Sep 3, 2020 at BOS Sep 4, 2020 at BOS Sep 5, 2020 at BOS Sep 6, 2020 at BOS Then they have 17 tougher games (NYY x10, NYM x3, PHI x4) before finishing the season against Baltimore. Probably need to really do some work in the soft part because it's hard to imagine not losing a few games during the tough stretch.
  13. It's not the $/WAR league but $1M + an option is starting to look like a nice little deal for Dolis. He's not the easiest RP to watch because he does not throw a low of strikes but he is still managing to miss bats and limit damage. If he can increase the zone% a bit, he could be quite good.
  14. Offensively, that might be the worst 6-9 in the batting order in Blue Jays history.
  15. The strikeout rate is starting to look like an actual improvement. Too early to say for the BB rate (takes longer to stabilize).
  16. Pulling up my thinking gaitor so I can be like Charlie, here is what I have: 1) Danny Jansen sucks and I have no faith he will get a hit or even move the runners over with an out 2) The runners are slow. I am scared of the double play so I'll bunt to avoid it.
  17. What about the player development of not bunting? I don’t want Danny Jansen to learn to bunt. I want him to learn to hit dingers late with men on base. Making a young player bunt steals a chance to learn.
  18. Yeah it's mostly fastball command for Nate. He hasn't found it yet this year. He's actually underthrowing sometimes to try to find the zone, which isn't helping things.
  19. Nate Pearson is the pitching version of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
  20. Guerrero is 88th percentile in average exit velocity and had the highest max exit velocity last season. Yeah, he hits the ball hard. If he ever figures it all out he will be like Judge/Stanton in terms of ridiculous laser home runs

people are posting this picture to say it was an elbow to the head: (mostly Americans who have never actually played hockey) Video makes it more than clear that it was as clean as a hit can be
  22. Yeah he looks fantastic there.
  23. The game plan was clearly to swing early and often at Cobb, who seems to just fill up the zone with his junk. Good on the team for not abandoning the plan after those six quick outs.
  24. well this is an annoying start to this game within an annoying season!!!
