  1. And it's just demonstrably false if you look at their drafts. They have selected their fair share of high school players with high picks. Pitchers and hitters.
  2. This is a Steve Simmons article in the Sun, designed to take an unsupported cheap shot at the current regime. There is nothing of substance in the article. He probably talked to one jaded scout fired by Toronto a couple of years prior. The way drafts work is that every pick will have an advocacy group within the org. The pick may be hotly debated. Bottom line is that the Blue Jays picked Bichette. Objectively, picking him over Woodman would have been a mistake because they got Bichette lower.
  3. He's been a cross checker since he left Toronto. Pretty big step down the ladder. That's like going from managing a restaurant to bussing tables. The Bichette and Biggio draft was a positive conclusion to a pretty bad overall draft record.
  4. That amount for Tiedemann is such a small and specific number under slot. It makes you think they already have it all mapped out.
  5. Not quite. Zeuch was 2016. AA left before 2016. But Brian Parker was scouting director in 2016 for the Zeuch pick. Parker was fired two months after that draft. Shapiro and Atkins basically let the old scouting group complete the 2016 draft and then purged the department. And thank f***ing god they did.
  6. Just noticed that Daniel Hudson is having an elite season. Kind of funny how he got lucky and faked being a closer for a while and was actually just an average to replacement level reliever... And now at 34 he's for real.
  7. Thing about changeups is it's all about consistency. Lots of guys can flash an okay changeup but if it sucks even 20% of the time it's useless. If Zeuch had a good offspeed pitch with any consistency he'd have a better minor league k rate, basically.
  8. Zeuch never showed good secondary stuff so I don't think he has the bag to be a good reliever. He is suited for one thing and that is chewing up innings with groundballs
  9. I have many viable SP. Could do a two for one trade with two of: Kyle Hendricks Trevor Megill Zach Thompson Drew Smyly Kwang Hyun Kim Jameson Taillon The P I get has to be clearly the best in the deal. Open to other ideas. Could also move Dylan Moore for a pick.
  10. Well you might be Muslim but Connor is a Muslim Douche. Different sect
  11. Yeah I don't see Toronto being able to reasonably acquire a SP who will be a big enough upgrade. Bullpen heroes are needed but that's about it.
  12. Stripling's comments are fine. People complain about athletes being boring or only giving stock answers and then other people complain when they are candid and actually say something human. All he said is that his family made a personal decision for them to go back to Texas and in hindsight that fact that he probably won't see his five month old son for two while months is weighing on him. He's a real person. It's good. You'll note that he also said the Blue Jays have been very accommodating and having his family come to Toronto probably was an option.
  13. Pirates seem v smart this draft. In hindsight the Henry Davis play was obvious but they still nailed it. Huge savings allocated down draft
  14. He couldn't spot his fastball on the outer half. Kept yanking it outside. That was a big issue.
  15. Montoyo can't just turn some of these arms into good pitchers. Nobody could.
  16. When Ross Stripling can't get ahead of hitters they might as well know what's coming.
  17. I've actually heard of this. One spouse (the earner) figures out a divorce is coming so they stop making money on purpose just to spite the other. Half of nothing is nothing. Or they just make much less on purpose.
  18. I've seen enough. Calling this one for Toronto.
  19. Lol so who the f*** would you bring in, mega brain?
  20. I would imagine that there are so many players "worth" $125,000 this year that supply massively outstrips demand and therefore some of them told teams hey, I'll sign for less because I really want to go pro. They can use the money to sign some undrafted amateurs I guess
  21. Clinton Hollon is pitching in independent ball this year. Small success after that junkie period. Might be able to help the pen right now?
  22. This front office cares a lot about make up, just in a more advanced way. Sports psychology and s*** like that are a big deal in Shapiro orgs.
