  1. What are the comps for Austin Martin, anyway? Try to find some MLB players with skill sets like this: 60+ hit tool with good plate discipline below average game power weak arm average speed not an everyday player at any premium position The three positive examples I can think of are Adam Frazier, Nick Markakis without the arm and from 2009 on, and Howie Kendrick (but Kendrick was an aggressive hitter). Maybe Adam Frazier is the best one there. I guess a lot of hit tool predominant guys like Melky Cabrera could also be comparable. I think in most instances this is a skill set that will spend a lot of seasons around 2 WAR, unless he can figure out how to lift/drive the ball more or how to be a plus CF/2B.
  2. Right, celebrating. But apparently he had done it numerous times before while playing.
  3. Maybe it's not really a physical issue. I mean the guy dislocated his shoulder on a swing. Most normal people would get a mental block going forward if they did that. Swinging as hard as he used to might be scary.
  4. That's the point I think. Reese looks like a rock solid backup C right now but Jansen is probably a better bet to actually be that type of player year over year. Anyway, Jays can get creative and do a lot of different things in the next year or so but the one thing they can't do is keep all these catchers. Certainly they'll be dealing at least one.
  5. How about Jansen for Mitch Keller in the offseason?
  6. Change of scenery trade for another borderline flop. Probably better to sell high on Reese in the offseason and just tell Jansen he's a backup from now on.
  7. I wear my boxers like seven days in a row so that might not be a problem
  8. I literally came in my American Eagle underwear when Springer hit that home run and I still have a half boner
  9. Alright let's all get drunk and disappoint our families tonight
  10. Albies fits your team better but you're setting some value on fire there. Semien and Taylor are both like, as good as Albies right now. So you're flushing a lot just to age down. Your team can compete in 2022 for sure. You have some studs. Need an Ace, not a younger 2B.
  11. Bad game Morale killer Fan enthusiasm down the drain now, barring a comeback
  12. I don't agree with all of this. For one thing, the other major sports also suffer from the same general problem. 3 hours is a long time commitment. With any of the sports you can ignore the middle portion of the game and just watch the fourth quarter / third period. Baseball is actually uniquely suited for the modern era where every viewer's attention is being pulled in multiple directions at all times. You can literally stare at your cell phone for 95% of a baseball game and if you look up before each pitch is thrown you will miss no second of game action. I do agree that keeping total game length down needs to continue to be a priority. Nobody really likes most games that drag on and on.
  13. It wouldn't be that foreign for hockey fans, at least. Point system baby
  14. I don't even think it's about that. It's just about ending games. Long extra inning games have no benefit for the league and they have certain costs, in terms of money and fatigue. Honestly, just having stupid ties might be better than the extra innings rule. Adding ties to the win loss formula is a smaller change than just plopping a runner on second in extras. Arguably, at least.
  15. I have seen this suggestion elsewhere and I do see the merit of it. Not sure I could ever get on board with such a drastic change though.
  16. If any game this series is a "must win" it's today. Ryu vs Richards, who has been getting clobbered. Losing today would be awful.
  17. Admin / Juiced is the only one who has access to the control panel here. He has not checked in for a while. We are trying to get in touch with him about the pop ups and bots.
  18. He's one of the easiest Blue Jays to project. He has been exactly this mediocre for like three seasons now. Not a starting position player, by talent.
  19. I guess Bo must have been sitting breaking ball 3-1 and just f***ed up the swing?
  20. Seriously how did they just let this guy go? He didn't even have bad numbers as a starter!
  21. And he's hurt again?
