  1. Thank f***ing god Vlad reads the forum and took heed
  2. there are probably almost none seems like most of the late bloomers were AT LEAST healthy and active baseball players in the big leagues before breaking out or at least least dominating in Japan/Korea or something
  3. they are stretching him out but someone needs to get hurt for him to start
  4. Yeah but at 29.5 he's pretty old to fix. Yes, lots of examples of players figuring it out around 30 years old but it's still incredibly rare. And Bird is a guy with zero MLB PA in last two season + he was not great in his AAA year in 2021. So the only issue really is the statement you made about him being one of the most talented hitters on the team. Evidently that ceased being true years ago. In fact, I would say that the last time Greg Bird was statistically interesting was way back in 2015. Every projection system now thinks Greg Bird is a below average hitter BUT he may be able to find the physical capability to be an MLB contributor. A productive platoon hitter would be a great outcome.
  5. It's fine. Not sure I would call it incredibly deep. Pearson and Julian are wild cards. If they don't stick then it's Romano and just some guys. Like it's not a top 10 pen
  6. Vladdy gaining then losing 20 to 30 lbs - an offseason ritual
  7. I hope so but Devers is a stud entering his prime, Chapman is exiting his physical prime and has some holes to fix
  8. Those numbers actually include Casas getting 231 PA and posting a .336 wOBA
  9. jays 3b - 3.9 ss - 5.1 2b - 2.0 1b - 5.9 total === 16.9 war boston 3b - 4.8 ss - 4.8 2b - 4.0 1b - 1.5 total === 15.1 war
  10. It's possible although I tend to assume narratives like that aren't true. But yeah if he's got a .360 wOBA end of April, move him on up
  11. Matt Chapman hit 6th or worse for the As 60 times last year guys
  12. I don't get it either All I can think of is that left side infielders make full strength throws and 2B often don't. But why would little Cavan Biggio tosses be worse for his arm?
  13. I think they only lose a second round pick and they are getting two comp picks anyway so not as bad
  14. Chapman PROJECTS to be the team's 7th best hitter, guys. Seventh. Vlad Springer Bo Teo Kirk Gurriel Chapman (that's wOBA projected in order, based on the FG DC projections) I don't think they hit him 2nd in the order unless he is killing it for several weeks of the season
  15. Man, Conforto for 1/$18 would be f***ing sweet. 2.5 WAR projection but probably 4 WAR upside.
  16. Well, in our era there was Rolen and Beltre and that was very true for both. Call that small sample size or recency bias, but some common sense applies too --- the position is a lot of arm + sure hands, and less range dependant than other spots so it makes sense that a good defender could age more gracefully at third.
  17. Less than no chance. Toronto isn't going to pay six arms and forth two legs for a star from a division rival coming off a career year... Also, Grichuk is very much already freed up for a trade!
  18. Trades, baby. They already traded Martin and Smith. If the system continues to produce fruit, it's trade bait.
