  1. So we have 1.5 weeks of regular season left 1 week until trade deadline LET"S f***ING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ROB MANFRED
  2. Anthopoulos is playing 4D chess at this point in his career If he was still in Toronto the team would be 5 games up on the Yanks right now.
  3. Yeah. Gausman is just legitimately awesome based on everything that matters. Manoah doesn't have the modern K-BB numbers people look for at a glance but he's such an imposing and uncomfortable plate appearance and his stuff as legitimately nasty. People up there are worried about getting hit by a pitch half the time and s***. Like I kind of buy him as a guy who will get contact that is a bit weaker than average, more often than not, just based on the quality of his stuff AND the diversity of his repertoire AND on how he pitches. Perhaps the degree of his current ERA differential is unrealistic though, like he's for sure not a 2.71 ERA guy unless he can pump up the K numbers. I don't think Manoah is an "Ace" like Gausman but he looks like a middle of the pack SP2 with some nice inning eater / durability qualities. So I think Toronto has an ACE ACE and a good SP2 who can hang with anybody, basically.
  4. Feel legitimately bad for Michael Harris I understand getting the millions immediately and guaranteeing this amount of money is life changing for anybody BUT he was on track to be a free agent at 28 and if he was healthy and productive he could have bargained for a mega-contract, because he looks really damn good. Instead the Braves will control him into his 30s. There is a chance that he declines during those option years and limps into eventual free agency as a year to year veteran player... There is a chance he left $200M+ on the table here.
  5. I think it's just a UI bug in the Scoring tab When I view this under Head to Head Schedule or the Commissioner Settings, everything looks correct. Last scoring of the regular season ends August 28th. Playoffs will begin in this Scoring Period: 20 (Starting Mon Aug 29, 2022) and last for 3 periods (rounds). Playoff matchups entered manually: Yes
  6. I moved the trade deadline up a week to the 23rd to make more sense schedule looks fine though? I don't see where it says it goes that far
  7. so that's like the expected arb progression plus about $20M AAV for two FA years I guess
  8. He's close. Probably 2nd or 3rd?
  9. Has a team ever fired their manager twice in one season?
  10. You can't really "fix" a guy who is just kind of bad at swing decisions
  11. how does AA do it?
  12. I don't have any problems with the deadline tactics either Prices were insane and Toronto doesn't have a super deep farm so it is what it is
  13. I doubt it. The players probably saw Whit Merrifield as a big add lol
  14. I am at a loss It's not even like the bats are mostly young guys who are choking under pressure. Yeah Kirk, Vlad, Bo are all young but basically everyone else is a veteran or late 20s guy
  15. 6th most runs in baseball 2nd most in the AL
  16. But it is They have a top 5 wOBA on the season and project to be a top 2 or 3 offense rest of season The difference between their talent and performance over the last 2 weeks or so is....... catastrophically large
  17. this is the most bizarre season who could have imagined Toronto, with these players, would be sitting in a playoff spot but utterly unwatchable in mid August and frankly for like half of the season so far
  18. that bottom of the 6th might have been the worst half inning from the Jays this year they just lost the lead and come out third time through the order against a mediocre SP and go down quietly on 6 total pitches...
  19. right.... they suck
  20. I think more accurately the bear case is see Brendan Rodgers. Veen may not have a good enough hit tool to become an elite MLB hitter. He might end up being just okay.
  21. jaysblue thinks the Rays are a better playoff roster/team than Toronto and I cannot understand it. Their offense is mediocre AT BEST and they also are not a good defensive team.
  22. selling him at rock bottom would PROBABLY be dumb
