  1. I dunno about that. If Shapiro was going to axe him or ask him to commit seppuku then would he do this media bit?
  2. Really no interest at all in Belt again Don't need a guy who strains his back 4x per year then takes a week every time to find his swing and is just a coinflip to be healthy and helpful come crunch time.
  3. I mean the part of this that makes a trade easier to find is that we all agree that Vlad does not have huge value right now. Here is a package that is literally worth Vlad right now: 29 year old reliever Steven Wilson and a 19 year old A ball outfield prospect you have never heard of in Samuel Zavala
  4. Why do people keep saying the Jays had this "best possible SP health year ever, so lucky, what a waste" when: - 2022's Ace fell victim to morbid obesity and went from 4+ WAR to negative WAR - one of the AA era teams also had impeccable pitching health - the 2023 SP roster was specifically and intentionally constructed to stay healthy! they brought in or bought specific pitchers for that reason
  5. Options are also relevant here. Is Richards the only one out of options? They can probably find a trade partner for Richards. Some team like Arizona. Their pen is mostly waiver wire fodder and replacement level youngsters.
  6. Mostly no brainers But they could explore trades of many of them.
  7. No, but they are probably thinking things like: - man that Daulton Varsho is a nice guy and good outfielder but he's f***ing hopeless with the stick - I can't believe that they make baseball players as dumb as Vladdy - maybe I should call Driveline this offseason and rethink this hitting approach that Don Mattingly had us all buy into in spring - it's going to be awkward as f*** if Manoah is still with the team in spring
  8. Well, personally I'd just shoot for upside and keep Baz and King. May's K rate has always been disappointing and you can replace a guy with Bello's numbers in most leagues.
  9. Baz - King - May ----- Bello But you can't assume health for these guys! Michael King had a broken elbow pitching. He's a massive injury risk. Dustin May is on the ropes as a SP with his injury history. Bello is the worse talent but might end up being the best fantasy asset if he can just stay healthy. He's alright.
  10. We are being tarred and feathered for defending the Atkins diet
  11. Twins I guess! - can't root for the shitbirds - can't root for Texas - can't root for the Astros organization (cheaters) I would not mind any of the NL teams winning though. No objections to any of those four. LAD/ATL both "deserve" to win, Arizona is fun, and the Phillies are kind of fun in a stupid way.
  12. The free agent pile f***ing sucks. I guess it's probably just not the offseason to get cute like this. The trade would need to specifically bring in an MLB bat with decent projections, I think, which makes it hard to pull off. I'm sure Atkins will explore it though. Did you know that Toronto had 3 of the 6 top free agent bats by 2023 fWAR? Ohtani, Chapman, Candelario, Belt, Heyward, Kiermaier, JDM, Garver, Gurriel Jr., Duvall, Pham, Teoscar. This is a really bad top of the board. Other than Ohtani, I'm not sure I want anybody unless they are signing a cute little one year deal or pillow contract. Toronto might end up doing something like giving JDM the Brandon Belt deal.
  13. It's just too much to ignore the .374 xwOBA. 5th highest among qualified 1B. Yeah he sucked in 2023 and the defense and baserunning drag his value down but he is still likely to project as a 3+ WAR player in 2024. Yandy Diaz this year was .381 wOBA, -12 def runs, -7 BsR, and it came out to 4.7 fWAR. I'm not sure what kind of challenge trade would be out there that would actually increase the projected production for 2024. This year was noisy and of course there are lots of external or unique factors that might make one think that Vladdy is just a mental midget in a sumo body who will always underperform but.... I am not going to just ignore a .374 xwOBA.
  14. There are definitely a few GMs looking at Vladimir Guerrero Jr. right now and thinking "I can save her."
  15. Sick of the Atkins supporters being tarred and feathered
  16. Ross Atkins just needs more support. Does he have a cousin Glenn that they can hire as Assistant GM? Glenn Atkins? Maybe a Scott Atkins?
  17. Fire Ross Atkins, sure, but fire all the people over 50 years old with him. Promote some kid with pimples straight from analytics junior researcher to GM.
  18. fun game! Michael King got the win Nate Pearson was electric in 2 relief innings Julian Merryweather gave up a HR Chad Green got a Hold
  19. Rogers probably only cares a teeny tiny bit about playoff success. Yeah they want attendance to be maxed out but that also isn't a massive deal to them. As long as the team isn't a complete afterthought people will continue to watch on Sportsnet and watch Sid Siexiero ramble about them and watch other baseball games on Sportsnet. That's all the corporate overlord cares about. Well, it's 95% of what they care about.
  20. Okay well 2023 Max Scherzer doesn't even start a wild card game for Toronto so
  21. Yeah with the caveat that someone like Hunter Mense might be worth keeping and we have no way of knowing. But like, why would any player listen to a 39 year old Hunter Mense when Don Mattingly, Guillermo Martinez, and Dave Hudgens are all there?
  22. Okay, change made. 3 SP, 3 RP, 4 P slots. New minimums: 35 IP 3 GS-Pitching 120 PA-Hitting The new IP/GS minimums are just to prevent RP shenanigan strategies. The new PA minimum is just to increase it to something borderline relevant. 9 hitters * 4 PA * 3.5 days = 126 PA so any normal/full lineup is going to eclipse 200 every week Even in a light week the 35 IP mark would be reached by 7 RP (say 14 IP there) and a handful of SP.
  23. Bit of a talent gap there though
  24. If you are Jose Berrios right now... ... aren't you kind of tempted to say "trade me to an organization that will never do that to me"?
