  1. This There *are* some theories that things like "making contact" matter more in the playoffs. But some nerds disagree and point to small sample size problems with those positions. Ironically, of all playoff teams Toronto had the 2nd best Contact% and the best chase rate (o-swing%). Little good that did them!
  2. Made up narratives for $100, Alex The default position is that the playoffs are quite random
  3. yeah but most people like you define the noise-makers by the results like, look at the Marlins roster bro. Jazz Chissolm, Jorge Soler, Jesus Sanchez, Luis Arraez hit .400 for like half the year. They brought in big sluggers like Bell and Burger. These guys all either have .200+ ISOs or they are elite at something. They have tons of sick young arms too, of course.
  4. 97 wRC+ as a team 22nd in pitching fWAR
  5. Those tweets mean nothing, lol. It's a sports fan / blogger's opinion.
  6. I am stirring the TAR and plucking the FEATHERS right now. Stay put
  7. didn't look at the SP side. figure they'll just depth fill the open spot. maybe bring in a Kyle Gibson type or bring back Ryu for $8M or something.
  8. Toronto hasn't been shy about trading prospects. I actually could see them swinging a trade for a star. Not sure who would be available. Atkins might finally feel pressure to kind of "save his job" too. I dunno. It's a possibility. Not a huge chance of it happening of course. It is harder to trade for star players with control in the expended playoffs era because like 27/30 teams probably think they can compete within 3 years. I'm glancing at the list of 2027/2026 free agents and seeing basically nobody who is an obvious trade candidate (most stars are on competitive enough teams). Luis Robert is pretty much it, on the offensive side.
  9. "we should acquire a star player" "it's hard to do that bro..." "why are you tarring and feathering me!!!!"
  10. why are people saying "we need another star player" and then acting like they are being attacked? bizarro victim culture in here
  11. Dodgers just need to stay close and get Gallen out of the game as early as possible Then they get their cracks at some waiver wire quality my middle relievers
  12. DBacks have a gigantic pitching disadvantage after Gallen and Kelly. Pfaadt is a who f***ing knows and their bullpen is sad. I guess they don't need a 4th SP this series though so Kelly would get a game 4.
  13. Future Blue Jay JD Martinez looking the part
  14. Dude just pay for sex, lmao
  15. That's basically the 2023 problem in a nutshell. I know other things went wrong and several players didn't hit well but if Vlad was a star it's a completely different team.
  16. The pessimists within like 26 different fanbases get to say "I told you so" at this time of year It's generally not helpful to pretend that these people have special baseball knowledge or worthwhile opinions about roster construction. I mean sometimes they have a point but by the end of the year almost every team is a loser so you aren't special or smart just because you pointed out the Jays flaws all year long.
  17. I don't think it was celebrated by everybody Some people hated it Some people were surprised at the details but saw the justification
  18. Get some therapy
  19. The funny thing about these personal attacks is that I basically have the life you wish you did. Complete, fully functional family with a loving wife.
  20. This is a funny thing in all sports Sometimes the queue isn't actually what the optimal players end up doing even if they think it is
  21. The Orioles demoted Bryan Baker halfway through the year. Kept him in the minors for months where he was mediocre. Inexplicably put him on the playoff roster. Use him. He gives up three earned runs and they lose the game by three runs. Lmao
  22. He was never fat though I think he just gained weight while recovering from surgery and had to change his diet to cut back down
  23. I don't remember Seager being fluffy Bo Bichette was kinda fat as a teenager haha
  24. Yeah He probably thought his size was an asset before 2023. Like the traditional fat pitcher. Of course we've also seen players work hard and get in shape then lose it over future seasons. Like Vlad!
