  1. I get the decision but I'm not even sure he's more than a 50% player in Tampa. Paredes 3B, Lowe strong side platoon 2B, Cabalerro defensive specialist at SS which Rosario might not even be able to play anymore... where is he playing? I guess 1/3 of the time at 2B and then picks up sporadic starts against RHP at 3B or LF if they want to give Siri or Arozarena or Paredes a break? Caminero and Mead and sleeper Richie Palacios are also lurking so he won't have any rope at all. NYY on the other hand, he would have less playing time out of the gates but much less season long competition and if one player like DJLM sucks or dies he's a starter.
  2. mlbtr notes Amed Rosario was offered $4M from NYY but took less to get playing time in TB Jays offered Chapman some form of 2 year deal at the end but his first choice was to go to SFG anyway (Heyman)
  3. Has to be IMO But if Schneider is bad for like, the first 3 weeks...
  4. Nah it's a battle 3B and 2B are subject to change rapidly
  5. Wow, exciting. Possible opening day lineup in front of Tiedemann (get DS in there instead of Twiggio though)
  6. Lukes turns 30 in July, lol He must do something better than we think to still be kicking around. Maybe he's actually a good defender or something
  7. no more discussion on this.
  8. yes it depends don't know the context
  9. Clement might have an underrated crack at being the primary 3B, if IKF falters. ZiPS: Clement, 1.4 WAR in 361 PA IKF, 0.7 WAR in 480 PA (probably has his defense underrated) Espinal, 1.3 WAR in 357 PA Steamer600 Espinal, 1.9 war IKF, 1.6 war Clement, 1.5 war He truly has as good a shot as anyone. And he is the only one of the three with a legit up arrow, by that I mean he looked better recently and there may be reason to believe he made positive changes to his game in 2023 that will help him overperform projections. IKF = the defensive specialist play Clement = the offensive sleeper play Espinal = the uhhhhhhh he was an all star two years ago play
  10. wonder if the Reds have known about this for a while and that's why they signed Candle Bro and did not trade Jimmy Indiana
  11. yes but also for the record your post was not funny
  12. malice/intent are always relevant the #1 rule is that the mods decide the rules and we are not bound by precedent
  13. Neither should make the team IMO Believe in Spooner Horvitz
  14. What does this even mean? You seem very mad online about a minor league signing, too.
  15. It's a minor league deal You don't seem impartial. You seem mad online because Joey Votto didn't jizz maple syrup with Paxton threw a no-hitter, and because Joey Votto never publicly demanded a trade to the Blue Jays when he was good.
  16. that has nothing to do with the Blue Jays honestly Jays fans are kind of cringe for ever expecting Votto to have been desperate to come to Toronto there was never a point where it made sense for Toronto to want to take on his contract, anyway
  17. wdym "didn't care"? he got his bag from the team that drafted and developed him it's not like he was a FA and spurned the Jays can't criticize a guy for securing his bag and showing loyalty
  18. lol @ Vogelbach being "very promising"
  19. hmmmm from what I am seeing that's actually a cutter! he didn't throw it in 2023 so, new pitch alert slider velo is the same as 2023
  20. Good. Fastball the same as last year, slider the spin rate and horizontal movement are up a bit vs 2023 and the drop is a bit less. Wonder if he reshaped it into more of a sweeper. Or at least something approximating a sweeper.
  21. I think a dumb team would trade some kind of decent piece for him IF he strings together some health and ostensible effectiveness. Yesterday Nate Pearson faced Wenceel Perez, Ryan Vilade, and Keston Hirua. The results/whiffs are kind of irrelevant. Spin rates this spring are down on his slider and fastball. IVB down like 1.5 points on his fastball... movement down on his slider. gulp.
  22. Pearson's velo was up yesterday but the ride was a bit worse His fastball still didn't grade out as an elite pitch despite being 98.5 I think if he has a stretch of good health and results I'd be trading him to a dumb team
  23. The fastball is a weapon. And his control was solid last year. If he has improved the breaking ball(s) a bit, and added a splitter he can mix in even 10% of the time... he begins to look like a real SP. Bit of a Joe Ryan package.
