  1. Joc - chose Arizona over Toronto JDM - probably wants a bigger AAV and possibly 2 years Soler - wants multi year deal Belt - major concerns about injury risk and hitting skills Hoskins - got his 2 year deal Turner is just the "bird in hand" at this point.
  2. Not sure this table is current DC has the WAR totals https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=ALL&teamid=14 Add the WAR totals to 47.7 (replacement level team win total). At least, that's the replacement level team win total I remember.
  3. Why are you like this? Springer is not a DH. But yes, it makes it very unlikely. Soler would only be a logical full time DH. Now, JT likely slots in for a decent portion of DH duties. Kind of think the only possible addition they might make (budget allowing...) is some sort of RBH OF willing to sign on as a presumptive 4th OF to begin the year. Tommy Pham the obvious dude but he might cost too much.
  4. I think he had a $6M buyout on the option though So it was more like turning down a $7.4M option
  5. I just love it. I love everything Ross does. Perfect player at the perfect price. A perfect cherry on top of the end of a perfect offseason. Smitten.
  6. Belt's health issues and K rate, pretty big red flags He limped to a good platoon season in 2023 but man a lot of it was accomplished by just jumping fastballs and guess hitting, right? I don't have much confidence at all that he will be good in 2024. Feel like Turner is a better "hitter" still and obviously has better health despite age; he just played 146 games. Also, can hold his own against RHP so can just be a full time player if need be.
  7. Nice Curious to see the AAV In an ideal world it's less than Pederson, and then we can think there might be a remote possibility of squeezing one more FA bat onto the roster
  8. Yeah all of these guys have serious warts. There are valid reasons that Soler has better projections than JDM and Turner, but most of that is simply age. I've never really liked or wanted Jorge Soler so the idea of giving him something like 3/$45M makes me squirm a bit. Would very much prefer to throw some money at JT or JDM for one year. Kind of feels like JD Martinez is holding out for a big AAV on a 2 year deal though.
  9. Their off-season has been so convoluted and I'm not sure they improved by more than one win Trash org tbh
  10. They might be very overconfident in their ability to create good relievers They've done it a few times for a few years but really pushing the theory now
  11. Yeah Not the sexy 38 HR upside but better floor. Maybe.
  12. Damn. The Twins killed it here. But, that happens when the infielder FA market is so weak
  13. Who is flexing? Buster Olney just decided to use the words "went hard" in his article Probably a side effect of his Cialis
  14. I don't know if they really "want" Disco. He's a salary dump on them. But they probably think he can be useful for them in baseball terms.
  15. Not as bad as you'd think. Polanco = +$9.4M Topa = +$7M Gonzalez = +11M DeSclafani = -$1.1M +$7.5M for the Twinkies Similar value from Toronto would be something like Swanson + Barger or Leo Jimenez
  16. Damn. Ms got hosed.
  17. Ah yes. I remember being mad about this. Playoff PAs: Biggio, 8 Merrifield, 2 Espinal, 2 Varsho, 5 KK, 6 Davis Schneider.... ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Yeah it was the most frustrating Blue Jays team I have ever seen, for various reasons. Not sure any of the bats that moved at the deadline would have made a difference though. I guess someone like Tommy Pham might have gotten a couple of playoff PAs over Merrifield? Something like that. I dunno.
  19. I think 3B is IKF's on the strength of his defense unless and until a kid steals playing time from him. Those possible kids are Barger, Palmegiani, and Orelvis Martinez. Biggio is the wrinkle on the roster who could also take some time there and he will probably get first crack. But, Biggio has major flaws and was a fringe 3B defensively. And prospects are prospects. I am mentally prepared for 500 IKF PA and 1.6 WAR.
  20. obviously not that hard, haha
  21. I don't think plenty of DH days for Springer is a necessity, nor a great idea necessarily. Full season last year, 130+ games in the OF, he held up and had a positive UZR and OAA. Actually stole the most bases of his career. This is an everyday position player who just had a solid defensive year but with weirdly low power output. I wouldn't want him to all of a sudden have the DH "mental penalty" as a recurring part of the equation. KK as a fourth OF would then be an awkward fit since he's be LHB along with Bellinger and Varsho. Lot of money for a defensive sub or pure backup. meh. Soler as the DH is a better roster construction. Maybe David Schneider as the 2B/LF wheel-man against LHP when KK takes a seat on the bench.
  22. Chapman is a better fit for the Cubs anyway. I feel like between Happ, Suzuki, PCA, and Tauchman, they already have 2-3 WAR at the three OF positions. I am not a Madrigal or Patrick Wisdom believer so I don't see the same quality at 3B for them. Not sure if they think about Morel or Michael Busch as 3B or OF options, though. Chapman is also, of course, a better fit for Toronto than Bellinger, too. Bellinger really not an amazing fit anywhere. Maybe the Rockies, hahaha.
  23. This is so not true about last year. Everyone thought pitching depth and RP quality was the weakness before the season. The offense being limp only emerged as an issue as the season rolled along and Vlad/Kirk/Springer never got hot. You can argue that they should have traded for a big hitter but... easier said than done, and most still expected the incumbents to hit better in the second half, reasonably.
